Does the Mercenary ticket renumeration work?

I originally posted this in a different thread, where it received no replies. Was that because nobody has ever used this system, or simply that the answer is so obvious everybody was too embarresed to tell me?

"This thread has got me thinking a bit, and I even had another look a the Mercenary book (read it once when I bought it, was not impressed, and had to blow the dust off), has anybody ever used the Mercenary Ticket chapter? In particular, the compensation "Pay Grade Amounts" don't seem to take any account of either the number of mercs in the unit, or the time taken to complete a mission, so a team of 4 working for a week could get as much as 400 working for months (so the individual pay out would be very low). I have probably missed something, but where?

Perhaps not a big issuse, as I disregard pretty much the rest of the book anyway, and would be likely to write more detailed missions and renumeration rather than relying of die rolls, but I don't see how the system as published works."

Any comments?

Well, if you have missed something, I must have done the same. :?

I tried to use the ticket system once, although not for a mercenary unit,
and gave up after the first attempt, because I was unable to make any
sense of it. Meanwhile I am back to the system from GURPS Traveller
Star Mercs whenever I need to determine the payment for any kind of
team.

I have used it to make up a set of random little tickets, mainly for the lulz :D

As for the paygrade, i think i would mainly use it as a per squad fee, i.e. a mercenary unit would expect that much per unit hired (unit being about 4 to 12 mercs) with multipliers dependant on time in mission (say 1x per two weeks, so a 2 month job would be 4 times the amount.

I actually think its a very easy system to work with, but it does take a little while to work it out. I think its pretty useful if you need plot fast...
