Do many ACTA gamers buy the RPG books for the background?

Do many ACTA gamers buy the RPG books for the Fluff?
I do.
I have the Centauri,Narn,Minbari, Earth Alliamce,League and Galactic Guide.
My favorite being the Galactic Guide. :)

It's probably not worth it, their are a lot of inconsistencies between the RPG and ACTA, so I'd just get annoyed!

Well Im afraid that I simply havent been very impressed with Mongooses fluff at times and it often seems to just flatly contradic what was seen on the show so no, if I want background Ill watch the show again thanks.

Honestly, no.

I can't stand the d20 system, so i don't think i'll ever be buying them.

But i still have the old "Babylon project" RPG and it's Earthforce expansion !

I'm with Locutus on this one - I don't much like the fluff as it is in the ACTA books, and I'm not much fussed with the RPG books for this reason.

I've got all the DVDs, and they are the source afterall. Just stick with those (though try not to get too annoyed when things blatantly shown on the screen are missed out of the game).

I bought the EA, Minbari and Centauri books plus the Primus Ship plans

some of the Mongoose fluff I find bizarre though, such as turning the alien Sh'lassan Triumvirate into black skinned human breakaways.....

Bought the Centauri factbook - interesting read (although I am in no way a fan of the D20 system).

Like some of it, disliked other bits - pretty much like the Show.........

Just read the Centauri triology - which was OK I guess, except for the technomages..............which I for my own reasons really dislike, always.

Don't suppose Dan Abnet has written any................ :)

I think there is also the other way around: RPG players, who have gotten themselves a ACTA box to expand upon the pen and paper game. I know I did :)

I was disappointed they said that Centauri women are naturally bald, when Turhan mentioned they shave their heads in the show.....

Glad to see I'm not the only one to find technomages an annoying concept :)

please no!

Well agree on the techno annoyances and disagree of Mr Abnet! :D

Centauri Women being bald - yeah I felt that was odd as it says in the novels and the show - they are not! Theres the bit about some women having full hair but that seemed a bit of a cop out.

Still I suppose we should not go about which bits women shave or don't as its a family board? :)

Hate the D20 system so wouldn't want to play the game, the fluff is interesting but doesn't always relate to ACTA or even the show always that closely.
That said it can make for interesting reading and so I did pick up a load of books when I saw them going cheap, but the system put me off ever playing it. They made for a good read but that's about it.
In terms of fiction I did actually quite like the Centauri trilogy and unlike many on this forum I enjoyed the technomage trilogy too. Most of the others weren't that great though.

Ship plans are about the one bit that the geek in me really likes. The sourcebooks are interesting and I've come close to buying one or two (like the station one) but not done so yet.
