Perhaps I've missed it, but from what I've read in the WR book it seems to indicate that Dardarrick, Lorn, and Torres are all multi-racial nations, and that while humans are a big chunk of the population they aren't always in charge. The other continents seem to more or less be race-specific (Dragonborn, Drow, Azer, etc.)

Is this everyone else's impression? If so, how did this racial tolerance come to pass? Because the Gods willed it so?

without being able to reference any of my books at the moment i would think it came about from the fact that they military that comprimises Dardarrick runs the gambit for control and if the military realizes that a goliath would be of great assistance than so be it.

Or at least that is my thought on it.

That makes sense. Dwarves, humans, eladrin, etc. all mixing and united because of military and/or religion is perfectly plausible.

What kind of threw me for a loop was a Torresh town that was (iirc) equal parts Lizardfolk and human and was protected by a militia of Kuo-Toa. Talk about crazy racial tolerance! :o

I was just trying to get my head wrapped around what a typical rural village in Dardarrick is likely to look like and the kind of reactions the people there would have to "exotic" races.

In a typical D&D campaign setting your prototypical rural village is going to be primarily if not entirely human, with non-humans few and far between. A dragonborn or Goliath or Deva showing up would not only turn heads but likely provoke a violent and fear-filled response.

My question is what would the racial mix be in a typical Dardarrick rural settlement and how would they react to "exotic" types showing up?
