Demo advice

Well, I've been demoing SST and now I want to give ACtA a plug. Up until now I've been playing ACtA with Fleet Action scale figs but to make an impact and show off the Mongoose stuff I need to get some AoG/MGP minis in.

What I need is some guidence on what ships make good demo setups. I want to use ships form the TV show and am wary of using Minbari but otherwise what's best?

In terms of recognizeabtility. ISA for the white stars, Earthforce starfuries, Minbari, and Narn are pretty recognizeable, not to mention very well designed ships.

Not sure how well it would go for a demo though.

Narn v. Centauri

Epic. Iconic. Enemies in the show. Simple ships with simple rules. Lots of choices.

That is a good way to start.

You could try the Battle Royale scenario - up to 8 can play at once. That way you can have all of the iconic ships of the show; those mentioned above in addition to Omegas, Hyperions, Novas, Vorchans, Drazi warbirds and Vorlon Destroyers. Sharlins were one of the best looking IMO but probably not a good demo piece.

Narn vs Centauri , easiest to start with given the ship traits and their iconic to the show, G'quan and Vorchans/Primus

I´ve had quite succesful demoes with a Brakiri/Shadow scenario (based on the convoy duty scenario) - nice ships, and "newbies" tend to drool on the Shadows... ;-)

As for a demo set for Babylon 5, I would suggest the following:

1 x ACTA Revised

1 x Sky Full of Stars

1 x Armageddon

1 x ACTA Starter Set

G'Karith x 3

Vorchan x 6

T'Loth x 2

Altarian x 1

Rongoth x 2

Primus x 2

G'Quan x 3

Octurion x 1

This is ALL ships used in ALL scenarios in
ACTA Starter Set - you may choose not to take 1 x Sky Full of Stars
1 x Armageddon but they are nice to have too

thanks for that. Rules are not an issue -I'm au fait with the game so I was just after peoples experience with demoes. Possible matches might be then...

Hyperion v 2 Vorchan
White Star v 2 Vorchan
Prumus v 2 White Stars

Personally I wrote up a 2pt Raid for every race and then let the player choose his favourite race. EA, Shadows and for some odd reason the Drazi are heavily favoured. Don't be afraid to use the card counters, people really don't seem to mind them (its also a big seller since they aren't expected to go out and buy tons of minis before they can play)

You can always use the minis as a show case item.

You could do Vorchans v. Drazi....

Yeah, I know, they were Demoss in the show, but those things suck ass.

5 Vorchans v. 5 Sunhawks/Warbirds...

Could be interesting...

Maybe even some Darkhawks?
