Lovecraft was a brilliant writer, as was Howard. The two corresponded and even exchanged a few ideas. If my memory serves correctly, Howard even wrote a Cthulhu mythos based story. I think it was "People of the Monolith", or something along those lines. Also, "The Vale of Lost Women" has definate Cthulhu ties.
