I've become convinced that some typos are actually sentient, and can hide themselves on a screen with ease. Only when the page is printed do they become visible...

atpollard doesn't have to write, he draws such lovely pictures.

This time round, we caught most of the typos before it went out. Proof-read at 125% size - worked a treat. And, with an elite task force chained and ready, the next book should be even more dazzling in its typographical correctitude! 8)

So, any reviews yet?

Go ahead, write a page of text, read it a dozen times and then post it here. See how many things YOU missed.

Not trying to be snarky, but afaik all modern word processors have spelling and grammar checkers.

Of course those don't find problems in tables or inconsistencies between chapters!

True, but I have yet to see one that works well. :)

Thats the truth, even harder when going from UK to US English and when the word Traveller comes up ;)

I've found the best way to catch typos is to print the thing out and read it. Somehow I find a lot of things I miss on screen.

Even older way that I was taught is to read it out loud. It is amazing how quickly you can catch errors doing this.

The brain has to slow down to read to speak and you notice more doing that.

Don't take this the wrong way please but, Ares and Dragon conjure up two different types of mythology for me. Did it really need to have both of those in the name? I love the ship designs that you come up with, the name of this one just doesn't work for me is all.

Ares is the Greek god of war, and the following "dragons" appear in greek mythology:

They sewed dragon's Teeth to create the army of skeleton warriors in the film "Jason and the Argonauts"

Ladon was the hundred-headed dragon that guarded the golden apples in the garden of the Hesperides.

The sea god Poseidon then called Cetus, a serpent dragon, from the depths of the ocean, and ordered it to create havoc in their land.

The brave knight Gozon sought to slay the fearsome Dragon of Rhodes which roamed the Greek Isle of Rhodes in the Mediterranean.

Our Ares' Dragon is a fearsome metal beast created to serve the gods of war.

Yes there are dragon's in Greek mythology. That wasn't my point. Dragon's aren't the first thing I think of though when I think of Greek mythology. I just thought that the ship might have just been called an Ares class instead of an Ares Dragon class. A little "less is more".

Now, I understand (I think).

I thought that the Ares Dragon Class ship was

a Dragon Class, Mercenary Cruiser built by Ares

I did not realize that the ship was

a Ares Dragon Class, Mercenary Cruiser built by whomever.

Ah,,,

Well to clear things up about the name.

The actual designer of the ship is classified. It is built under contract by Versi-Star. Versi-Star also license the production out to several Zhodani corporations (a result of anti-Imperial paranoia).

The Classification is what ever you want it to be. Ares Saber, Dragon's Maw, Ares Dragon, or Sword of Heaven. Once you buy a copy and incorporate it into your setting, your the Ref, call it what ever you want.

Coincidentally, I was watching West Wing last night & they mentioned 'Ares' Dragon' on there so I looked it up and it seems the Greek god Ares had a dragon as a guardian beast which was killed by Cadmus as one of his challenges during the founding of Thebes. It makes sense now. :)
