Dark mode.

I have a deteriorating eyesight condition. Yesterday somehow I discovered dark mode wikipedia.

Is there a way to get dark mode for these forums (white writing on black background) it really helps.
Some browsers, e.g. Firefox, offer some form of "dark mode", so you might want to check the settings of your browser.

No worries, I didn't change everything so if anything doesn't work or doesn't show properly, just give me a shout! (I prefer dark mode, too, just didn't have a real incentive to make it)

much in the same boat. Thanks Bella!!!

large reason why I really don't do PDF's unless necessary... so much easier and comfortable to stick a book 6 inches in front of your face than a laptop.

Weird. My eyes have the opposite problem: white text blurs on black background. I had an ophthalmologist tell me it's because I have to much tissue on my eyeballs. He offered to shave them. I passed.

Ok a couple of issues.
When in a reply box whenI left click and drag the cursor over text to copy it there is no visual clue - it works in that the text can be cut/paste etc but there is no visual clue it is highlighted if that makes sense. When you highlight a post in a post ther is a blue highlight.

The other issue is the Bold Itallic text size buttons etc at the top of the reply window - when you mouse over them the box that says what they are is white but the text inside is white too.

If you are in dark mode try to highlight any text above by left click and drag - blue box.
When typing in a reply window no blue box highlight but it is invisibly highlighting for copying etc.

All of the action buttons B I TT etc have white box with white text when you hover over them.

Only just noticed because I do most of that stuff automatically or with keyboard shortcuts :)

One little quirk:

If you click on "What's New" or "New Posts" (for example), on the resulting page, in the header immediately above the red bar that has the menu and or drop-down menu options (i.e. BELOW the page title that says "What's New" or "New Posts"), the menu options are apparently black text on black, except for the currently selected page choice, which is white on black. If you run your cursor across the menu drop-down area, you will see each of them highlight in white as you go across them, and then go dark again as your cursor moves off them.

That makes it hard to know if there are menu options on the page.

Should be fixed now! :D

I prefer Dark Mode overall, but the difference between an un-read thread title and a read thread title is minimal and distinctly hard to see. Can this be rectified?

I have fixed this (but broke something else in the process)! If you don't like the slightly ugly red colour, if you find a HEX code for a colour that would work just shoot it in here and I'll change it :)

Additional thing, this:
whiteboldnav.png
Will now look like this:
redboldnav.png

However, I accidentally broke the node (speech bubble thing) so it appears as white instead of red. I'll work this out either today or tomorrow but it requires looking at actual code ™ so it may take me a little bit!

Nevermind! the amount of {{ and :: and ;; confused me but the nodes are fixed! Sorry about that :)

At least now I can pretend I am a very sage and educated techie person (until Matt asks me to fix one of the layout team's computers again).

Also I fixed the post reply button so it's got a red background, which should *hopefully* make things look a bit easier?

As always if anything is gross/not helping just let me know :)
