Damage resistance (sorcery)

Does anybody think the sorcery damage resitance spell is quite weak, resiting on 1HP per 10% Grimoire.

I can see that if it was 2HP per 10%, this may over-power the spell.

Thinking it through:
Say 65% Grimoire skill (fairly experienced) - resisting 7HP of damage.

A Battleaxe (1-H) does 1d6+1 = 4 pts on average, with say 2pt from a damage modifer = 6 pt total.

So, on average a competent sorcery could resist a large warrior if lucky. Bladesharp or Damage Enhancement would cause a problem perhaps.

What do people think - is it worth getting this spell over say Protection?

Damage Resistance might seem weak, but is limited only by the Grimoire %. Protection is limited by the Maximum Magnitude based on the caster's INT.

Further more, Damage Resistance can be manipulated by the sorcery to affect multiple recipients and at range, if necessary; Protection is limited to the caster. Its also a Progressive spell, which means it doesn't become more potent with the value of the skill behind it; only when more potent versions are learned.

Damage Resistance, however, is far more scalable and flexible. Its a superior spell. Look beyond what the AP benefit is, and more at how the spell can be used.
