Crew Hits

Okay, I realise I'm opening the floodgates to those members among you who dabble in sarcasm, but I'll ask anyway.

In the combat section it states that every successful hit inflicts one point of damage to the target's Damage score, but makes no mention of a Crew hit, as in ACTA. Is this an oversight, or can crew hits only be inflicted by Critical Hits and Fires?

*Tsk* RTFM *Tsk* ;)

Crew is only reduced through fires and crits. This has come up a number of times, it is different to ACTA yes.

No idea what RTFM means, but thanks for the prompt reply.

I did try a search before posting, but only received a bunch of twaddle in reply.

On this note, has anyone ever seen a ship crewed? My smaller vessels are impersonating reefs by the time they'd hit crew score, and my larger ships... let just say that Russia had a bit of a crew surplus.

We've been playing with a house rule using the 1 crew per hit rule. We've actually had exactly one ship reach skeleton crew that way. . . after it was already crippled.

If you don't play with that house rule, I would suggest just ignoring crew altogether and using the house rule for fires causing damage to ships systems.

Yeah the crew damage rules seem fine to us as well. Normally they are not an issue but a raging fire will toast your crew up pretty fast!

Crew losses were never much of an issue in WWII naval warefare though I suspect that there may have been occasions were replacements were hard to come by. I consider them just a hang over from ACTA that adds a little flavour.

There have been some suggestions, even on the ACTA threads, that this aspect of the game be dropped in order to simplfy play. The general opinion in ACTA is that they should be kept.

IMO crew hits waste of time for VaS and rightly so from a historical perspective.
