Couple of Campaign questions....

Fiztbane_65

Mongoose
7 of us are running a campaign right now and we have a couple of questions that need answered. first a bit of background...

the fleets are as follows

1. Vorlons
2. Dilgar
3. Abbai
4. Drakh
5. Narn
6. Brakiri
7. Minbari

the questions that we ran into are this..

1. on the abbai duties chart, if you roll a 2 you get "Peace Summit" it says During the next campaign turn, no fleet may attack another however, in the drakh book, if you roll a 7 on the duties chart it says Pick one enemy fleet. You may select one strategic target in the next campaign turn that it must attack. it says MUST attack. which rule takes precedence?

2. the second question, if and when the abbai use the Peace Summit duty, do they also get the "pacifist" rule that they get? technically the abbai arent "opting to not stake a claim to a strategic target" they are having a peace meeting. how can you not stake a claim to a target if you are at a peace meeting?

3. the last question that we had was about space stations. the dilgar and drakh dont have them. we have decided to open up the Orion Starbase to them and to everyone if they want to take one. has anyone else done anything like this? or what have you done?

thanks in advance.

if anyone would like to check out our campagin...check out this website...

1- I would give whichever side has initiative precedence.

2- They can always opt to not attack another fleet. In this case they have no choice.

The other benefits happen any time they are not in a scenario. So, if they choose not to attack but get attacked anyway, they do not get the benefit. In a Peace Conference turn, they would always get the +15 RR and free duties roll since they cannot be in a scenario.

Peace conferences are their bread and butter.

Your campaign looks good, but I would seriously be worried about that dilgar player, he looks pretty stout

HAHAHA....hahahaha....heheheh.....heh

funny how you happened to run off the table against me last nite....

Nice campaign site.

"on the abbai duties chart, if you roll a 2 you get "Peace Summit" it says During the next campaign turn, no fleet may attack another however, in the drakh book, if you roll a 7 on the duties chart it says Pick one enemy fleet. I would apply both - no one can attack during the Peace Summit, but the Drakh have been operating behind the scenes and so force just one battle to happen.

If you are running a narrative alongside the campaign, there is plenty of material in that - peace summit shattered by the Centauri (say)!

Just read through all the campaign reports - if anyone is planning to make run a CTA campaign, they should take a look at this. In fact, you should look at it anyway, as it may convince you to run one.

So, the Abbai are annoying every other fleet in the campaign? Yup, pretty much what was intended with them :)

Warning to the Abbai player: The others are going to smack your forces silly when the peace summit ends :)

the website that we have for our campaign was made by the Narn player. he does a great job of it and puts up with a lot of crap from us trying to get it updated....

Hopefully I wont be smacked silly cause Abbai rule and are Janky right Solitare.......

Abbai will survive to claim the system.

Excelent name for a ship...

what happens if I pull out this straw here?? ARGH RAIDERS!!!!

The campaign website is fantastic.

How is the coordinator managing all the data, pen and paper, auto updating spreedsheet?

I am working on something using excel and am keen not to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks

I used a basic Database, just dropdown boxes for RR, ownership, and a few queries to check RR per turn. Alas, it was on my old PC where the Drive died, however it was pretty simple to set up.

We got a spreadsheet set-up on Google Docs that worked quite well as we could all view it online and the administrator can make changes.

I am working on spreadsheet which removes the need to roll all the dice at the beginning of the campaign. i.e.

Each player sends in their fleet lists, I copy them into the spreadsheet and press a button which automatically calculates the number of strategic targets category, type and unusual features, the CQ for every ship. I have this section working fine. Lots of IF, THEN, VLOOKUP and Random number generation to replicate D6 rolls.

The next section I am working on is calculation of RR, turn tracking etc... I have the RR calculation by strategic target by turn sort of working but am happy to borrow any ideas that someone else has already worked out.

That sounds really cool actually, you should maybe considering sharing it out with our wonderful community :-)

hmm, doesn't seem to work, however it might be because i am in work with a useless old copy of Excel. I can see how it should work though, which is cool.

I have updated the sheet. Had a couple of stuff accidently copied across 3 tabs by mistake.

Why it won't work.

you haven't enabled the Macro. if not just use F9.

otherwise it maybe because you Excel doesn't recognise the RANDOMBETWEEN formula. This needs the Data Anlysis pack which is in Tools -- Add Ins. If you have have it installed then you just need to check the box. If not you may need the disks.
