Counters question

Mongoose
I just got my copy of ACTA Noble Armada. As I started to read the Introduction I see that there are counters in the back of the book which I allowed to copy as needed. When I turn to the back there are not any counters. Where can I get my copy of said counters?

Thanks,
Christoph

They don;t exist, it's likely a hold over in editing from the B5 ACTA rules where one version (I forget which one) had copiable counters in the back.

(to use the existing thread...)

Is it useful to have counters/tokens? In the photos I can see some, including some nifty blue transparent plastic ones...

If it is advisable, are there plans to produce some, or is it something we'll need to do ourselves?

Countersheets would help people try out some of the various fleets before deciding which box set/s they want to go for (which itself can be an issue, here in Canada at least); plus it might help people playtest some of the new fleet lists while waiting for the upcoming miniatures for those fleets to be made available.

I agree about trying out fleets (I'm not exactly in gaming central myself), but I meant counters like the ones you see in use in this: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=47969 thread... presumably for things like shields, hull or similar...

On a sidenote, would experienced players suggest putting names, IDs or numbers on the bases (or even hulls with small enough decals) of our fleets?

(eg: LBH: What are those coloured dots on your bases?)

It's always useful to have some sort of recognition tool on a base.

It probably doesn't matter for ships you'll only have one of (like dreadnoughts), but it's not impossible to have half a dozen or more frigates or galliots of the same class and being able to tell at a glance which one has the speed critical (especially if they're all operating in a pack close together) speeds things up immensely.

For that matter, a local carrierphile has just discovered fighter Battle Shields, and keeping track of which fighters have lost shields and which haven't also takes a bit of work.

Plus, named ships always do better. Unless they do worse, in which case at least you have a name to swear at.

On a related note; just for my own interest I was updating the old ACTA 2E vassal module - just need to finish off the Kurgan and Vuldrok fleets and I'm done.

The blue plastic ones are Babylon 5 ACTA ones, made by GF9.

At the previous tourney one of the players used very small dice to record shields. This was a pretty good idea.

As for differentiating ships, I have used:

My Earthforce ships all have nanes painted on the bases. A few have transfers on the ships, but they are too small to read at a distance.

My Narn have a different coloured symbols on them.

My Gaim have different coloured ships.

My Minbari use letter stickers from video cassette labels.

My FA scale B5 ships just have numbers painted on the base. (Minbari use roman numerals ans the Vree use binary)

My NA ships have sticky coloured circles on their bases.

yep i used the old B5 counters throughout.
as for the other counters, they are from firestorm armada and I like to use them for shields as you dont accidently pick them up and roll them or knock them etc

As previously mentioned - have finished knocking together a quick Vassal module for people wanting games online. let me know if you're interested and I'll get it posted up somewhere.
