Could it be (Common) magic....

Guys,

I've got to the point in the core rules about Common Magic, and I noticed that Boon of Night has no range trait, so I presume it's centred on the caster?

Also, the Detect spell has no Area trait, although it has range, so exactly how can you detect anything unless it's within a very small area? Or should it have the Area trait?

The reason I ask is that, in my understanding, the Range trait determines the distance at which the spell can take effect, but the Area would be the radius of effect.

Cheers!

The Area trait would imply that you cast it in a place and it remains static, which is clearly the case with all other Area spells, but Detect remains centred on the caster. Not having the "Area" trait doesn't mean it has "a very small area". The description is perfectly clear, "allow the caster to locate the targets of the spell within its range".
