Correct me if I'm wrong... (regarding MEA infantry)

So the only difference between the combat/survavil skills of the USMC/British army and the MEA is the fact that the MEA has no armor and their AKS are shorter ranged?

Basically both the US/UK troops and the MEA troops have the same skills in being able to shoot someone dead? And the only thing that represents the MEA as true true insurgent/militia forces is that they drop like flies because of the lack of armor?

its a game not a simulation :D

hehehehhehe

dont forget the better forces can negate some cover. and they cant make small fire teams so easy. in an urban enviroment the more tech forces begin to shine.

guns kill and spraying the enemy is as good in one hand as in another, its tactics that should win these games though not tec.

You can also take 2 full squads of basic MEA infantry for the price of 1 USMC squad.

Also, the MEA have to MG, but they do start with a long range RPG and can easily buy more in their army.

So, the differences between the armies may not seem like much at first, but within the basic armies, they're differentiated more by subtle changes rather than hundreds of complex special abilities.

Consider it part of the ability to avoid the pluses for excumberance and fatigue for having to carry all of the heavy gear into combat. ;)

while we're on the subject, why are the EFTF so much like the marines, only worse?

Because...the EFTF are like the marines, only worse :D

I couldn't resist - I suspect we'll see much more differentiation and flavor in each faction as more units become available

But good quality, well trained infantry should share a lot of the same attributes - as for the marines being better - they are considered by many (including ALL marines and former marines) be "elite" and a cut above regular infantry

Being a former US Army infantryman (and having known several marines) I question their "elite" status - but admittedly - I may be just a touch biased :o

Anxiously waiting for US Army types, IDF & Russians

Isn't the whole indoctrination of being better than all others part of "elite"training.
regardless of wether they actually are?

True. The thing that really sets the USMC apart is their absolutely massive logistical support, and the slick integration of combat support assets at relatively small unit levels. A USMC infantry battalion in a Marine Expeditionary Unit can count on dedicated support from helicopters (transport as well as gunship), aircraft (harriers), artillery, amphibious and/or reconnaissance vehicles, and may even include armour - all under the command of a single colonel, so no endless trudging through the chain of command in order to get some fire for effect.

That, of course, and an exceptionally strong esprit de corps. I'd be hesistant to actually rate the USMC as better trained or generally better fighters on their own, when compared to other modern regular armed forces. To me it's the mix of logistic support, integrated combat support, and esprit de corps that sets the USMC apart.

a point i think a few miss about the MEA is the cheap troops and an infantry based army is very hard to break, as tanks reduce your break point buy around 10-15 modlea id say.

Only true so long as MEA stays infantry based army. Once they get tanks I'm sure we'll see MEA based tank armies swarming over their enemies in swarms(albeit small ones) of vechiles.

If you can't kill enemy with 1 tank try 4

That is correct. When it comes to close in firefight, MEA troops are on a par with the US and UK. They may do things a little differently, and they don't have digital combat suites, but don't for a moment think they are nothing more than a civilian who has just grabbed his grandfather's AK. They know how to use it.

ive seen them boys with thier AK 47's on tv the practice daily it seems shooting at them poor old clouds !!! no wonder its all desert out their, they scare away the clouds !!!

remember that the 6" firezone is there to represent a whole chunk of full-auto fire going into a specific area. The damage and save rolls sumulate near-misses and intervening cover blockign a roudn that may hit a trooper otherwise as well as shots that don't penetrate armour.

Well...a gun is a very simple tool to use...

uh when you learned how to use it im shure : P

and depends on what kinda gun your talking abaout... : )

Guns are simple tools, you point them at what you want to shoot and pull the trigger...

You may not hit it and you may be screwed when it comes time to change magazines or it needs cleaning...

But the basic operating method is fairly well known.
