I've noticed Mongoose tend to be a little, erm, optimistic regarding release dates. Before the most recent clearout I think there were about four products listed for release in the next three months (like
My First Treason) - and this after several recent books had been delayed...
I can't fault the level of support they're giving the line, but this continuous proposing / withdrawal of unrealistic release dates doesn't look terribly professional. In fact it just looks silly.
Why not just have a 'TBC' section for upcoming titles, only listing actual release dates when everything is pretty much certain? I appreciate in a small industry like printed RPGs, you're going to get the odd unforeseen delay with printers, distributors, titles like
Collapsatron being incorporated into
Flashbacks II, etc. but the release schedules have been rewritten more times than Alpha Complex history.
(Which may be in keeping with the setting, but bloody well shouldn't be!)
Mongoose staff, we appreciate all the hard work you do, we just don't like the overenthusiastic promises
