Conan evolution

What is Conan Evolution?

Probably game using Evolution rules with prepainted figures and all :D

Ie Battlefield:Evolution/SST:Evolution turned into Conan world.

Just one problem with this: Conan is much more appropriate for HUGE battles! 28mm models and evolution rules wouldn't be that suitable. 6mm or 10mm models and new rules for such scale would be more like it! Thousands of knights crashing into infantry line! Arrows blackening the sky! That's more like it!

I think that was going to be Age of Conan. We even has a forum for it at one point. I guess plans for it have been shelved.

not realy as you use the base evo rules and all the specail abiliteis go on the cards, and doesnt have to be prepaint, you could as a tester do a fantasy game with evo rules using the MA figs for example.

would mean some ocasions a character would take damage or if a kill result was done hed be instantly dead. as for units if you were to do say 15mm then a hit would require a save to survive and a kill would wipe the said base out totaly.

would work brilliantly in my mind as big stuff like dragons or mamoths would take damage but could still be taken outright by a mighty hero, warmachi or beast who rolls a kill result.

Evo rules don't represent well massed combat with 6mm/10mm models...

Evo rules are too concentrated on invidual models. Mass combats are all about formations and command. Inviduals don't have much of a power directly(except for command and inspirational effects).

Different scales.

Up the BF:evo army sizes to say 4-5 battallions(tank wise that would be 160-200...) and it wouldn't represent anymore game of that size well.

There would be NO need for mass combat. Most of the adventures of Conan take place with no more than a dozen or so men per side. Set during the age of Conan, it could be a skirmish game, or even a cross between RPG and miniature play.

If I want to play Mass combat, I might as well play Warhammer.

Have you counted number of times there are references to THOUSANDS of soldiers in Conan stories? A lot...

If you want small skirmishes might just as well play it with RPG...

Warhammer is a mass combat? LOL! Not by a longshot...That's border skirmishers at best.

Mass combat=THOUSANDS of troops. Not like 100 models max in warhammer...

Well, if they bring out a warhammer sized game I would be happy. Less of that ranking up stuff. It looks cool, but I like to pose my figures, and some of my conversions are so delicate they cannot take ranks ups.

That said, regardless of the amount of minis, minis nontheless would be a blessing from Crom!

Heck they could publish a skirmish set, a large scale set of rules (assuming you have enough stuff, and a medium level game. Besides, when i play warhammer I like to think the troops that are there represent more than there acutally are.

Never played celtos but the minis are nice. However, a campaign focused (though not entriley) game would be nice to have.

Celtos is an okay game, lush minis. I have a few, the game I have only played once, but is okay.
Surely a conan game woul dhave to be called Conan TMG, it hasn't had a previous one for it to 'evolve' from.
BF:Evo is called that as it represents the evolution of modern warfare, SST:Evo is because its a new version.
So Conan evo would be conan, evolved. So he would be a radioactive Ape with toasters for arms.
Yeah!

Nor has BF:EVO...

Word Evolution in game means simply it uses Evolution game engine(so to speak) and marketing system(prepainted models).

Of course if Mongoose went to mass combat system it wouldn't make sense to call it Conan: Evolution since it would use different rules.

Rob already explained that BFE was like evolution of modern combat. Read the post man!

Yes I noticed that but that doesn't really hold water. What makes game evolution is that it uses the evolution system(rules&marketing point). The whole concept with that is that you have one ruleset which unites the games so you learn one game, you can start new one by buying units from second game, check the unit stats and start playing. No need to learn new rules, no need to paint the models(unless you want). Just pick up units, read the unit cards and play.

If Conan game would use same rules and have prepainted models then name would logically be Conan: Evolution. If they make say different rules(mass combat) then logically name WOULDN'T be Conan: Evolution as customers would buy units and go "what? I have to learn new rules? But wasn't one rule to unite them all one of the main points of evolution?"
