Conan Compendium Preview/Review

I received my copy of the Conan Compendium today and I think that many people will be pleased. Although I must point out that not every single Conan article is in this book, several of the more popular one's are.

It is a hardback book, retailing for $24.95 U.S and has 93 pages of material. Not only does it reprint several popular Conan articles, it also has two new Conan adventures. The first written by me called "The Children of Jullah" and the second "The God in the Bowl" an incredible adventure by Vincent Darlage.

Several other authors are inside such as Jason Durall, Charles Rice, Bryan Steele, Ian Sturrock and Todd Tjersland. All incredible authors!

Below is a copy of the Table of Contents:

Introduction 2
Solo & Duo Play (S&P 7) 3
The White Hand of Hyperborea (S&P 9) 7
Danger in the Westermarck (S&P 10) 13
The Bandit (S&P 12) 19
Three Sides of the Coin (S&P 13) 22
The Kordavan Way (S&P 16) 26
Plunderers of the Dead (S&P 17) 29
Encounters (S&P 19) 42
Darkarra: The Spirit Eaters of Darfar (S&P 20) 49
Khemi (S&P 21) 55

Hope this helps you guy's out.

Sounds tasty!
I guess I'll bite the bullet and get this one! :D
I was secretly dreading that it would simply retread the old without anything new (to me at least).
Any more info on God in the Bowl? How closely does it follow the original yarn? (Okay, maybe a stupid question, knowing Vincent's solid track-record of brilliance.)
Thanks for the 4-1-1.

Yogah,

Of course it's very accurate and follows the original story. Even has maps of Museum and Conan's stats'.

Hmm... I tried to purchase the compendium and it shows it hasnt been released yet on the Mongoose website - what gives?
It isn't out yet, not until November. I'm sure Eric got hold of an early copy (maybe he's a proofreader or something?). Lucky bastard.

some times at conventions and certainly at mongoose open days you can get releases months before wholesalers that network seems to hold on to books for sometime without releasing them

I got an advanced copy because I'm special. Not the short yellow bus special either.

Seriously, I wrote two out of the four adventures in the book, so maybe that had something to do with it?

Oh darn. Well I wrote in another thread that if someone wrote a nice review for this book I might be tempted to buy it, now I guess I'm gonna buckle down and BUY it.

Thanks very much for the review Eric, look forward to going over the adventures!! :P

Bregales,

Anytime. And if you tell me how much you like (or dislike) my other adventure in the S&P this month (Staff of Ibis), I will send you a part of the adventure that never made it to print.

Wow, very cool. I just exported the adventure from the mag to a standalone pdf so will print and go over before stagefencing class tomorrow! :D

Was very happy with your other adventures in S&P:
  • Danger in the Westermarck
  • the Dark Altar of Katar
  • Ghost of the Deep that you co-authored with Vincent
Well, I have a 13 hour day tomorrow (though 2 hours of swinging a rapier and teaching actors how to do it after work sure is nice), so I'd better shut down for the night.
