Combat isn't too deadly...

but I would say it is deadly enough.

Now some qualifiers, this is a low TL game, with the highest being TL 13 in a very few areas. Weapons are all slug throwers, and Vacc suits are mostly TL 8 with a couple of Hostile Environment Vacc suits as well.

Still, the group had a fire fight with 3 bad guys last night, in a passage way, so -1 and -2 mods were being applied due to cover and other people being in the way.

Now the party quickly took out 2 of the 3 bad guys, but it typically took 3 hits from SHOTGUNS to do so, in part due to having 4 or 5 armor themselves.

The party also made liberal use of using their minor actions to take "aim", the highest gone for was a +3 bonus.

As it was the party got hit several times, one took 10 points, but stayed up due to armor and a good Endurance attribute, another player got hit several times, but he had the HE Vacc suit and I rolled lousy damage twice, so his Suit actually stopped all damage form 2 of the shots, but 2 others got through, but absorbed 7 points of each, so kept him up and running.

So it was a nice tough fight but not too deadly.

Still, it certainly helped that they outnumbered the bad guys 5 to 3, plus it helped that they party used shot guns and assault rifles while the bad guys only had snub pistols on them.

If numbers and weapons had been stacked more evenly party members definitely would have gone down, but as it was it was a nicely threatening encounter that seriously bloodied the PC's.

Plus their 2 party medics made some great rolls with their med kit and use of the operating room available to them, so even the badly injured PC's were back up within 3 days.

Five living party members and 3 dead baddies in a hallway style skirmish - no that certainly wasn't too deadly :)

I forgot to mention one of the PC's missed and I rolled a 5 on the d6, so they shot one of their own party in the back.

What kind of rounds where used in the Snub pistols? Tranq, HE and KE only I'd guess bacause if it was HEDP and HEAP they would have bean toast

So did you tell the players what happened - or did they have to figure it out? :o

If you introduce armour-piercing ammo, then everything changes. Combat becomes much more deadly. That's why when cops confront armed criminals the issue is so one-sided. The combination of better training and body armour makes all the difference in the world.
