CM for recipient of ranged attack?

Combat Scene:
Attacker (longbow) fires at defender (sword & kite shield) ~50m away.
Attacker hits but defender get a critical.

Quesion: Is the ranged attacker immune to CMs in the above case?

I can't see anything in RQII or Deus Vult RAW to cover this.

It's bugging me something chronic.

Guess he is using evade or parry?

I think this is House Rule terrority / GM fiat

You could allow him (if he wants) to rapidly close the distance or if there is sufficent cover allow him to disapear from view.

If in a melee you could allow him to twist away in time or deflect the arrow into one of the archers companions

You could even have the bow string break.............

whatever makes it fun I should think............

Actually it was parry (with sword & shield) and I was thee player tbh.
GM said you're too far away for a CM which seems to give missile users a huge advantage.
So I wanted to canvas for options, or, indeed, to see if Mongoose's intent had ever been explored here..
