Centauri 10 pt campaign fleet

Hi,

I have been given a copy of "A Sky Full of Stars" as a Birthday present and boy is it good. I have been reading the campaign chapter and I really want to build a 10pt battle campaign fleet for my Centauri this is my latest draft I would welcome some views before I purchase any more ships, I have 1 Primus BC, 1 Dargan CS, 1Corvan Sc and a Prefect CA.

The proposed fleet is as follows:

1 x Secundus-Class BC "Flagship". B. 1 FAP
2 x Primus-Class BC. B. 2 FAP
3 x Sulust-Class DDE. R. 1.5 FAP
2 x Prefect-Class CA. R. 1 FAP
2 x Dargan-Class CS. R. 1 FAP
2 x Elutarian-Class DDB. R. 1 FAP
4 x Darkner-Class FF. SK. 2 FAP
2 x Corvan-Class Sc. PL. .5 FAP

There will be 12 flights of Razik Fighters as onboard auxillary craft

I wonder if I have got to many raid level ships ? Should I reduce the number of Darkner's for more Corvan's I not sure if this would make the fleet more versatile or not. The idea behind the Elutarians was to give the fleet long range punch. I wanted to keep the fleet to a managable size for storage I figure I have space for about 20 ships plus a 12 to 18 fighter bases. I would welcome improvement suggestions.

Your fleet looks good. A bit unconventional, but solid. Three Sulusts is a bit much, though. I'd bin one and use the points to get two skirmish ships instead. Maybe Vorchans, but you really need to use them in numbers to get a return on their cost.

The Maximus frigate lacks punch but is hard to kill and packs anti-fighter arms. Handy for the fighter-light Centauri in some configurations.

I'm personally not fond of the Secundus cruiser. I'd use that battle point for a Balvarix carrier myself. Eight fighter flights and it's actually a better unit for plantary assaults with its matter cannons. The Secundus' heavy array and twin arrays can't actually fire on the surface...

Thanks Lord David,

I have taken another look at my fleet and have come up with the following:

1 x Balvarix-Class CVS "Flag". B. 1 FAP (Fleet Flagship)
2 x Primus-Class BC. B. 2FAP
2 x Sulust-Class DDE. R. 1FAP (Close Support for the BC's)
2 x Centurion-Class CA. R. 1FAP (Prefect considered as Cheese I have read)
2 x Dargan-Class CA. R. 1FAP (Close Support to Centurion CA)
2 x Elutarian-Class DDB. R. 1FAP (Long range sniper)
3 x Darkner-Class FF Sk.1.5FAP (Good fire power)
2 x Vorchan-Class W. Sk. 1FAP (Because they are in the TV show)
2 x Corvan-Scout PL. .5FAP (Best Scout)

20 Flights of Razik/Sentri Fighter Auxillery Craft.

Now I have a number of other alternatives i.e.

reduce number of Darkners by one and increase Vorchan by one.
or take five Darkner.
or reduce Sulust by one and asign the remaining Sulust to escort Balvarix and use the FAP saved to purchase two more Vorchan.
I like the Centurion/Prefect, Dargan combination and would prefer not to change this.
I am interested to try out the Elutarion combination as I figure I can maintain a continuos volley of torpedoes on a chosen (capital ship) as it lumbers across the table (Narn) are ideal opponents for this tactic I think.

Can I ask am I correct in thinking I can mix fighter types on carriers e.g. on the Balvarix I could have 4 flights of sentri's and 4 flights of Razik's ?

Yes you can do this.

The fleet selection looks interesting, certainly most of my campaign fleets have been Raid heavy as this adds a lot of versatility.

On Vorchans, it really depends on how you like to play. For the stand-off 'Beam Team' approach Darkners all the way. I would probably drop a Darkner for another Vorchan (rather then a Sulust for two more) as I like the Pack Attack approach. However, I tend to treat Vorchans as semi-disposable and don't expect them all to survive an engagement.

Vorchans are very, very good fast strike craft. However to get the best effect I have found you must use them as a squadron.
