Casper Van Dien as Johnny Rico back on the screen?

Is that still in production?
They are actually going ahead?
I assume it will be a DVD release. Either that or a porno. Casper has sunk to depths with that crapy vampire movie he did nobody heard about.

SST2 is one of the wost films Ive had the misfortune to sit through,
if they were going to rip of 'The Thing' they could have at least least tried a bit harder on the special effects, or the acting, or the sets, or the music, or hell the whole thing really :D

I do like control bugs, but that film is so shocking not even the fact it was straight to video could save it... The only good thing about it as far as I could see was I wasnt the person who rented it

Hopefully the third one will be alright though, it certainly sounds better already lol

I actually bought the 2nd movie, since apparently I'm collecting all things SST (I mean, I got one volume of the Anime after all). The special features talk about the various things the did CGI wise for the movie.

I thought all they did was take the special effects from the 1st one and super impose the actors in front of them? :D
I think the fact you actually bought it proves your dedication to SST! lol

I've gotta get me a copy of the anime version, heard alot of good things about it!
Of course its gonna have to join the que, I wanna get one of those dubious chinese box sets of Hokuto Shin ken and Berserk first..

They must have a higher budget to eb able to film it in Africa. Maybe they are going to replace bugs with zulus.

Hello There
Yup i actually really liked SST 2# , it's kinda hokey and corny , but its a great popcorn, switch off mind and enjoy kind of film.
the animated series was kinda cool too (not enough blood and guts for my liking oh yeah and those extending skis from the boots-where do their toes go) .
Not a fan of Anime (with the exception of Akira) so i have no intention of seeing the anime series.
Had heard rumours of SST 3 but not hyeard a thing.

From Wikipedia:
"The film will still contain the original bugs although Edward stated that a Scorpion bug would be more deadly. (...) Set four years after the first movie, Juan 'Johnny' Rico has now reached the rank of general and the federal army is bigger then ever before. This time they run into a new strain of bug known as a 'Scorpion Bug'. The infantry must stop the Scorpion bug from breeding itself on Planet Earth."

So in 97 they had a 29 year old playing a kid just out of high school, and now 10 years later, he'll be recast as a character 4 years older.

Well at least we know where the SFX budget will have to be spent

im sure the rico actor if they use the same one, has had the full holly wood makeover lbh, weekly colonic irigation and face packs he'l look 2 years younger probably :D

Guess they got bit of hints from G. Lucas how Kenobi went from end of his Padawan training to Jedi Master with grey on his hair in 12 years

(even better how the Kenobi in Episode II can manage to get so old in 2 years...)

Obviously Anakin Skywalker was a very stress-causing student...

Plus Lieutenant to General in four year? That has to be the most ridiculous promotion scheme ever...

Then again he did make it to Lieutenant in much less time than his book counterpart did (mostly my avoiding any form of officer training...)

Perhaps the Humans will have developed sense (any form would do...) by this time.

Now don't get me wrong, I like the original film, but my favorite moments are all the stupidest bits.

Take the argument over whether the Bugs are intelligent or not. How did they not notice this before they invaded their Homeworld?
The Bugs using just some inaccurate blobs of plasma fired from the surface of their planet can first knock one rock out of an entire asteroid belt out of orbit of their star. They can then get it on the correct trajectory to score a direct hit on one city, on a planet, in a solar system on the other side of the galaxy without the aid of any form of conventional spaceflight technology (ignoring for the moment the fact that they apparently did so preemptively millions of years before the event that caused them to do so, so as to give it time to reach its target). Must have a pretty good maths wizz there...

Then when the Roger Young encouters this asteroid going at great speed apparently, from the looks of it the Rog must be moving at an almost equally great speed backwards based on how fast the asteroid is approaching (then miniutes later it manages to hit earth despite them being somewhere near Jupiter...)

And finally my all time favorite stupidest moment from Starship Troopers the movie...

When the first Lieutenant Rico has says "Remember your training and you will make it back alive..."

What training? All they were apparently trained to do was mill around aimlessly in a big mob whilst firing wildly in all directions. Then they apparently require someone of superior rank to actually tell them to fire in the first place. Plus of course the advancing without any form protection into the blast zones of their own nuclear ordnance...
Ohhh and the lets form a big circle around the enemy in a fashion that almost guarantees that I'll shoot one of mates on the other side...

What part of this training is conducive to your survival?

Ah, what a great laugh it is...

Hello There
Captain Smirk , details just mere details, and havent you heard of good guy bullets, you can fire as many as you like and never run out and they never hit other good guys unless you are a bit player/jerk character , and good guy bullets always hit the bad guy no matter how wild.

Me i loved the first move, the second movie was ok i guess , but i cant wait to see the next movie.
