Captain Kremmens Aircraft

Although aircraft have a problem in the game at the moment I have painted up loads of flights for my Jap and US carriers.

All aircraft are 1/600th Tumbling dice miniatures. The models, plus bases plus magnets plus transfers were all bought in the UK from Doms decals. I recommend the magnets they are rather useful. Transfers are nice but they really are diddy.

Painting is all by me!

Very cool :)

I'm hoping to have my first games night with VaS on Friday, it all goes well I think I'll have to get some aircraft.

I'm still trying to decide what scale of aircraft mini to use. In some ways, I like the 'birds' eye view' effect of these (and the paint job is great), but they are so grossly out of scale... ... but the 1/3000 minis are so crude...

Thanks everyone. I really recommend the minis.

Unfortunately as currently written I don't recommend aircraft at all, they are less than useless.

Up them from 1AD to 3AD as a MINIMUM before they are of any threat at all.

I want to use aircraft because they are great little models and because aircraft are a signature part of the pacific war...

I totally agree

Now I've seen the 1/600s with ships, this is the way I'll go. I had planned to use 1/300 because they're easier to get hold of, but the Tumbling Dice ones look cool.

Not many mind. Just some fighters to keep the enemy at bay. AAA is good enough to keep any survivors off me.

Hey Cap, those planes look great, I like your ships as well. A couple of questions-

-What manufacture are the ships?
-I notice what looks like frosted bases on some of your planes...
is this from spray sealer?

regards,
Scott

Kremmen, great looking stuff. I agree the mounted base reall adds a third dimension, and having them out of scale with the ships - makes them appear as they are at even higher altitudes. Maybe the torpdeo bombers should be a smaller scale... 8)

Hi the ships are all Navwar 1/3000th. check out the forum from a week or so ago and you will find a thread started by me with pics of most of my ships.

The bases are Vallejo scenic sea effect gel, it is brilliant, recommended to anyone modelling the sea at any scale.

I think I may have bought the wrong stuff, the Vallejo stuff I have is transparent!

What is the exact name of the product you use?

Roland

Vallejo Water Effects 26204 Atlantic Blue 200ml for £5.99 There were 3 blues as I remember and I picked the prettiest one, think it was also the original one. The stuff is really good and so amazingly easy to use.

If Ostfront is on line he has seen my models in real life, I think the Vallejo looks better for real than it does in photos.

Court Jester,

I am sorry, I was just re-reading the messages and realised you asked about the table. I am using a perfectly normal table, what you are seeing and is really nice, is a terrainmat seacape mat. They are rather expensive and I have waited for ages to justify buying one, but check out terrainmat on google or ebay.

I bought a land one and a sea one. So far I prefer the sea one. But I haven't used the land one in anger yet.

Hi Kremmen I was at call to arms too better than last years show and at least tumbling dice were there. I too use the terrainmat seascape I have the 8'x5' one. Yes they are expensive but they knock spots of anything else out there. He also has an ebay website if anyone else is interested as sometimes he does special offers on here.
