Canon Narn Colours

I'm trying to paint some Narn up and my research shows that different people have outlined the 'zigzags' in a variety of colours - mainly white, gold or silver. From the images from the show I can find it's very difficult to tell what colour they *should* be - can anyone help me out?

I think white or slightly off-white is best, depending on how the rest of the ship is painted. I use off-white (specifically, GW's Bleached Bone) but I use darker reds (Scab Red/Red Gore) - but I have quite a dark style in general. For brighter reds, I'd probably go closer to pure white.

For Narn, as the main colour I start with a dark red over a white basecoat then highlighted up through brighter red and with a final orange highlight around the edges. For the zig zags I use dark brown outlined with pure white.

I guess that's another question - just how red should they be? The pics from the show make them seem very orangey but I've seen some ship minis painted very dark red... *scratches head*

Depends on how much highlighting you want to spend time doing.

If you want a fast paint job with no, or very little, highlighting I would tend to go with a brighter red. say GW Blood Red. For a single simple highlight I would use Blazing Orange over this.

Or for a darker Red look go with Red Gore and highlight with Blood Red.

For my own Narn I started with Red Gore, then first overall highlighted eith Blood Red followed by fine highlight of Blazing Orange and finally an edge highliight of Firey Orange, (which I see GW no longer supply) so alternatively 50:50 white / Blazing Orange.

The use a very watered down red ink wash to pull it all together.

You should really try then see what is best for you. Way back I tried a darker overall look but preferred the above. Hence some of my early painted Narn have been recently renovated.

At the end of the day it is what looks right for you
