Okay Folks,

An idea I was playing around with during the SST v1 hayday was the idea of Campaign Cards.

Here's a blank of one.


Basically, these are little 'perks' that pop up during the course of a campaign, be it big or small...

Thanks... For Eyes on Station, which is a Level 2 card... which is odd when you think about it.. why start with a Level 2? It gives me the chance to figure out where I want to take it..

Level 1 : Bird in the Air = 1 short range UAV, +1 to dice rolls for deployment
Level 2: Eyes on Station = Mid range Aircraft, +2 to dice rolls for deployment
Level 3: Overwatch = Long range aircraft / maybe a satilite, +3 to dice rolls for deployment.

Of course, there might be additional rules to these....

And the enemy will have cards available to them too.. like interceptors or so on which cancel out cards.
 
How about delay cards, forcing the enemy to randomise a unit that shows up late for the battle, or ambush cards that take a few infntry out of the game before it even begins (recalculate shatter point tho:))

unexpected reinforcments, letting the player with the card recycle a unit?

insane courage, make one unbit worth max *pts immune to suppression?

they look like ants from here!
play this if the opposing player has any aircraft, you can control that unit for 1 turn, if he has several aircraft then you can only use this card for the least expensive one

I loved the old strategy cards for 40k in case you didn't notice :D
 
hehe i just got a little excited,,
not much that beats the "what just happened"- feeling that comes from cards and random event -lists
 
very cool mate

maybe cool to have a card that can be used by placing on the table and it acts as a dug in marker as well.

or how about a card you place down as a transmition if it survives (no enemy contact) it allows a unit within 6" a free action next turn then is discarded ?

or a card that is played to show a unit has been hit by a land mine ?
 
Would be good if these were double edged, perk cards and penalty cards. Each campaign turn roll a D6 on a 1 draw a penalty card stuff like:-

Fuel supplies ambush en route vehicles delayed by 2 turns onto table

Blackhawk down- Friendly aircraft down has tied up task force air assests. Aircraft delayed 2 turns.

Stuff that isn't the end of the world or destroys units but provides a delay or issue to work around.

Well, there's going to be card where you can play it on an opponent... like:

- Wag the Dog: Support for the War causes the War Effort to flounder, soldiers act as if they had been suppressed for their first action.
 
mechanical failure card, play on oponent vehicle of your choice breaks down and cant move unless it can roll a 4+ on a d6 every action.
 
Bad weather - keeps most aircraft out of the air, visibility is now reduced, etc. "In'Shallah"

Fleeing Refugees - civilians keep running across the battlefield in their attempt to flee the combat zone "Mommy, I forgot Mr. Snuggles!!"
Killing noncombatants could penalize your faction- or be used to its benefit if you really want to go there...
 
maybe you get 1 card per unit you have in your campain list. once the cards are gone theor gone, but if you loose a game roll a D6 456 you get a new card, a 1 your oponet gets one of your cards (of loosers choice)

be a way of ballancing the game for rubbish players have some other bonus mechanic for winner to get a bomus.

Okay,

My catagories right now are:

General Abilities (basically, stuff similar to Eyes on Station)
Logistics (stuff where one player can cause the other player to have delays in unit arriving, broken vehicles, shortages of ammo)
Murphy's Laws (Stuff happens, and there's a dice mechanic in here that will determine who gets hit with it)

For Mister Evil, I'll see what I can do.
- Shoot and Schoot
- Squad in Cover/dug in
- Landmines

British forces can deploy second, forcing the other to to place first.....

Something about officers sitting around a folding table, white tablecloth, as the troops get ready....
 
Additionally, I'm taking into the campaign's various terrain areas, using that in combination with the levels. So for each level you might have, you need X to be able to use that card.

So for a Level 1 card, you need your basic base available fore you...

Level 2 will be basic base + something (village, airport/seaport, so on)

Level 3 will be basic base + something + something....
 
chattin about BF-evo campain sytem today at mongoose, i think you guys will like it as it has this sorta stuff in it ;)
