If a ship is detroyed by an Asteroid Field does it count towards VP totals at the end of the scenario?

Yes, it doesn't matter how the ship was damaged/destroyed, only the final status of the ships.

what if the asteroid field jumps out in front of the ship, and the captain of the ship is dumb enough to drive thru said astroid field, does that captain lose victory points out of sheer stupidity?
