Bridge Size for External Mount Ships

Odd question, I am designing an 800 ton ship with External Cargo mounts. The tonnage externally will bring the total tonnage of the ship to over 1000 tons.

For bridge size, if I use a 20 ton bridge for the 800 ton ship, then add external cargo that increases the tonnage to over 1000 tons, does the ship suffer a -1Dm for all actions because ships of over 1000 tons need a 40 ton bridge? (as per page 15 of Highguard 2nd edition)

The external trader in Scoundrel (page 93 is no help because the total tonnage is 800 tons, still in the 20 ton bridge range)

Any thoughts?

Hull size governs bridge.

You only have to recalculate drive performance for external cargo, drop tanks, towed craft, etc.

thanks... 20 more tons for other stuff. And 2nd edition is a lot more tonnage intensive than 1st edition, especially Jump Engines. Double the size. Ouch!
