boresight

When firing boresight weapon using miniatures does it need to center point or just cross the base.

It needs to be dead on, all measuring for capital ships is done from the flying step or the central red dot on conters.

It is a good idea I found to inform the opponent in the moving phase of any Boresight targets (just make sure that you target those ships that have already moved). This way if things get knocked during play it avoids debates.

For me I place a pipe cleaner from firer to target to show boresight

Normally we just use an easy agreement of calling out boresights.

In the rare case of some yet unmoved ship being boresighted we normally try to remember each other that there is an option to get out of a boresight.

Yer yer im a fan of playing very openly, i really hate to be surprised by stuff like that, even when it is technically my own mistake ^^.

We do put dices on counters/minis, with a code for SA or boresight.
for exemple a 1 is boresight a 2 is CAF and a 6 is a close the blast doors.

It's pretty easy to know what ship is doing what without always asking and so we of course declare our boresight on the move so no surprise if a ship has moved "alone" on the table ;)

As a rule, we just make sure that the shooter is aimed at the target (using the old mark one eyeball), then use the fabulous plexiglas counters to indicate Source and Target.

We just use 'line of eye' at home and hope for the best, that and agree whether or not a ship is on boresight before nominating attack targets. I have considered marking it out on the bases but I think that would merely clutter them up and make them look a little ungainly. Might have to make a transparent base template to attach for just such occasions.

What he said, though at times folks can get finicky, especially when the boresight is occurring at the extreme point of the turn.

Yep. It works better if one declares the intent to boresite a target before making any significant turn. If your opponent challenges your ships ability to make the turn, it is still in place and you can use the turning template to see who is correct. Miniatures can drive men mad!
