Boresight and Lumbering

So alot of discussion about boresight - now would this help or hinder?

A ship with a boresight weapon may fire on a lumbering ship in its front arc (maybe with CQ check of 8+) to represent the reletive ease with which these huge ships can be targeted?

Seems to me it fixes an oddity about that inability to hit big ships if you have little ones ......

don't help against little uns but.................

just a thought - still at work and its nearly midnight...............

Since little ships already super seed there parents I would say no.

Getting the balance between swarm fleets and aram ship's is terrably hard.

I would just dump lumbering Or B arc on ships to give alittle difference between ships.

If the FAP was better woudl it work?

If the FAP properly leveled out then yes sure. I think the FAP should be replaced by a points system though. Certain ships at the hight of there class lead to a min maxing aproach which leads to "cheese fleets"

Unfortunatly, with the number of non lumbering ships, this would be a massive balance issue. Drazi would rape fleets with lumbering ships as suddenly all their bores became forward.

Without doing something to balance the fleets afterwards, this would be a no, so it would probably have to wait until a new edition. If we're talking about changes during a new edition, I think that there's much better ways of dealing with the problem (like fixing the initiative system).

This was actually my thought, boresight can already force a shot on a lumbering ship by getting in front of it and flying down the enemies line.

The issue is that bore sights can't hit ship in front of them due to ships across the table, you have to fix that... not the interaction of boresights and certain classes of ships, or you will just recreate the issue with a slightly different cast.
