Books scheduled for June

Noticed a few books scheduled for June, but does anyone know what to expect ? Location / setting books or adventures or something third?

The titles are:

Blood of Orlanth - Revelation (scenario ?)
Jrustela (presumably a location book)
Necromantic Arts (this sounds like it may be a generic rules supplement, rather than glorantha)

Anyone care to speculate with me ? :)

Hi guys,

Just to let you know, the release schedules will still be a little loose until our printing facility goes online (in a week or so!). The dates on the web site are the latest you should expect books, so expect to see a few bumped up the schedule. . .

I am looking forward to spend some (more) money to these

Necromantic Arts gives me some interesting ideas...

Colour me a cynical bastard, but this whole 'when the new printing facility goes online' stuff is starting to sound like a proper albatross, Matt.

Is it going to work out for you, do you think?

Well, we wouldn't have invested half a million Dollars in it if we thought it was going to be a bummer. . .

*blanches* Good grief. It seems like a massive risk for an RPG company.

Really hope it does work out for you, guys.

I've read rumours Chaosium offered to sell you their entire company for 1 million, is there any truth in that?

SGL.

Its a good thing it was not half a million euros you put into it, LOL.
Swriously, I cannot wait for space quest, and I can operfect my house rules for an AVP game. When is Spacequest? Something around next Spring?

Appreciate the thought.

However, it is all relative. What is a large some of money to an individual can be a regular bill for a company - it is a different scale of economics.

And we do sell quite a few books :)

Not that I am aware of. However, we have talked to other companies in the past on this subject, and the number 'one million' (in whatever currency) comes up with alarming regularity.

Seems to be the price people place on their dreams and hardwork :)

A million dollars i just not that much money any more. I mean, in the sixties it might have been. It should be more like, one hundred, million dollars.
Okay, now that the Austin Powers bug is gone,
Chaosium really did offer to sell to you?
Take Cthulhu, for the love of god man take cthulhu!!!

I'd be surprised if the majority of Mongoose's income isnt from miniatures. Not that their book sales are insignificant, but mini's tend to be much more lucrative in terms of sales and profit

Yeah, but writing a books takes creativity and basicaly a person, then printing, while minis need to be deisgned and all that other sutff, and moulded...

I'd say book saels are quite significant as thats how mongoose started off.

there is some more setup cost for mini's but figure this. To play a game of say, starship troopers, a group of 6 people are likely to buy 4-5 books of, say, 30 dollars each.

To play, say, the babylon 5 game, each of those 6 people are likely to spend 100 dollars at the least, very likely more.

Seems more profitable with the books, but once they have the core system they may not buy the expansions. Hard to see which sells better. With minis you can buy the same thing over several times.

Depending on the Scale of the operation and the size of the plant, one is assuming Mongoose have the option of selling print runs to other (non-rpg) business to cover their investment if neccesary. Nevertheless I for one appreciate the risk they've taken. Not to mention presumbly a few more jobs in Blighty which is always welcome!

according to matt through many treads and going way back it was and is the otherway round the first minis were payed for via the sales of the roleplaying games ie the quints and conan

.this new press will have been payed for by runequest sales which to misquote matt is the daddy of all sales but the books remain core and pay for the minis and the fact mongoose has never had to sell shares(their are only 2 last time this question came up one each for the founders)or had to take a bank loan out something matt has been very proud of in the past
