Book Orders & Lone Wolf 2

.

As I stated above, I also pre-ordered and haven't recieved it. Matt has been good enough to explain and apologize for the delays, and I believe that they are doing everything in their power to get the books out to us.

Full agreement.

by reading this forum you can find out how later the book was ordered the sooner it arrives.

Thats totally despicable.

We should be happy it arrives later so we will not get a faulty book?

This would be sick.

Well, we had to wait how long again for anything new Lone Wolf?! Years and years..

Second Moongose even does not send a mail if shipping was done.

So i have to check my post box every morning and go away sad as i find no book again, again, again.

It can really put you off enjoying the book, even this was what we are wating for many years.

Hopefully it will be in my post book this morning.

But sure it will not, like always.

Would you have been happier getting a defective copy?

Mongoose have told us that not only was there high demand, most people ordered the book in the few days before the shipping date. Add to that the fact that apparently the British postal workers went on strike, plus the defective books...

I can understand why you are angry. I ordered my copy on the 17th of July and haven't seen it yet either, and with other people getting theirs early (some who didn't pre-order) I have to admit I am a little annoyed. But randomly spouting off about Mongoose being 'dispicable' and 'total crap' is not going to make the book arrive any faster.

Be happy that demand was so high that it can only mean good things for the future of Lone Wolf! And if you guys don't want to order anything else from Mongoose... well, I guess you will be the ones missing out.

Mongoose general delivery notes do say to allow for up to 28 days for delivery, and this is from the release date (1st of August), therefore there is no delay before the 29th.

I'm not so worried about Fire on the Water, but slightly more worried for delays on The Caverns of Kalte, since I assume that book will come with Collectors' Editions of the two Novels, since they have the same release date.

Since the sales of the Mega-deal seems to be very good, will the Mongoose printing facility be enough to print Collectors' Editions of all three books? Will they have to clone "Russell" into triplicates so the printing can ho on for 24 hours aday. (Perhaps we should expect Mongoose to be looking for more helpers for printing/distributing all the books they print in-house. Hmm... pehaps they are already looking.)

By the way there seems to be a few typos/things to be updated on your Lone Wolf page ( http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/series.php?qsSeries=24 ) :
- In Upcoming Releases section
The paperback version of The Caverns of Kalte (Nov 2007) can be pre-ordered, but you have not changed yet for Fire on the Water (Oct 2007). (A bit odd since you would expect FotW to come up before TCoK since it's an earlier book, and both books are in paperback.)
- In Free Downloads section
Just above the Map of Sommerlund download, you have a loose text saying "Lone Wolf 3: Caverns of Kalte - Collector's Ed" (This should be removed, was probably copied there with the map link a couple of weeks ago.)

"The wheel that squeaks gets the oil."

If you aren't happy with the book or the service, you should complain, it's the only way your personal situation will be rectified, and it's the only way Mongoose will release that they're doing something wrong.

That said, rants about how cynical and evil Mongoose is are paranoid nonsense, it's clear that Mongoose are doing the best they can to satisfy the unexpected demand for their product and the people who've had to get in touch about defective books and whatever don't seem to be going on about poor customer service in the way that people do about much larger companies when they have defective goods. The order they're sending the books out might also be a bit odd but if there weren't problems with overdemand this wouldn't even be an issue.

The only reason Mongoose are having problems shipping their orders is that they underestimated the demand - it's hardly the biggest crime in the world. I'd worry if it happened again but when it's the first product and it's just been released... I mean I didn't send an angry letter to Nintendo saying I'd never get their products again when I couldn't get a Wii over the Chistmas period. You have to be reasonable and if people aren't going to buy the new Lone Wolf books because they had to suffer a bit of a delay on one occassion then they're really just letting themselves miss out over nothing.

Well said. There is a difference between complaining and being as acerbic as you can. Some people seem to be downright hateful, from what I've read. Mongoose is having a stressful, yet joyful, problem. For Lone Wolf to be so popular after so many years is an unexpected surprise for them.

And for the fans of Lone Wolf to act so demanding and unyielding and sling words at them so freely...I bet that is an unexpected surprise for them, too.

So I for one would like to offset the negativity of this thread by thanking Mongoose for what they're doing. They're the first publisher in many, many years to print a Lone Wolf book. For that I'm grateful.

I think that a lot of people placing orders the minute before the release ain't the best way to do things. They'll have already sent off orders to the printers based on the percieved demand. So if they suddenly need to get a load more printed up there's going to be delays.

Hopefuly now they know how many willing customers there are out there things will run much more smoothly. Yes, I recieved my copy of book 1 dairly early but it was defective and I had to wait for a replacement. I don't expect book 2 to arrive as quickly but I d expect that it's less likely to be defective :).
