Blood of Orlanth is here!

Mongoose
My postie has literally just dropped B.O.O. into my sleepy hands. :D The first impressions of layout and printing look promising, black and white printing, reasonable sized gutters, no sily backgrounds to obscure the text, flat end boards. Unfortunately I will not be able to look any more deeply this weekend as I will be preparing the next session of the campaign I'm running.

Yes, I was impressed too. Also impressed with the new cardboard packaging (replacing the padded envelopes), which had obviously protected the contents against a couple of knocks.

Now had a chance to have a quick look through the volume. 140 pp, so it looks like the printing facility benefits of page count to suit the text, rather than the other way around, are starting to show. As the author GH has stated in the blog (just type 'Blood of Orlanth' into the search), it is a three part adventure, rather than a simple scenario. It looks as awesome as the playtesters report. The detail in the individual sections takes me back to the days of Griffin Mountain and Pavis, meaning that the story arc does not at first view seems to impose a linear 'go here, then go there' format. However only playtesting by the rest of us will confirm that.
The illustrations are (for my taste) a bit too dark (literally not figuratively).
Overall it still does look as though Mongoose have produced a potential classic. Time alone will tell.

Sadly it wasn't on the "New Release Sheet" that Esdevium send to Game shops on Friday, so it is unlikely to be in the shops until at least the end of the week, if not next week:( (And I was hoping it would sneak in at the end of last week...)
