Bladerunner

hmmm

now as an ex huge fan of blade runner, met harrison ford, and evan been in the blue and white flying car from the film, id have to say as a RPG it wouldnt be anything special or wow.

just my thoughts.

i was under 10 when i went in the car and it was at silverstone :D

I've have been comparing this with the Judge Dredd universe while reading up on the more trivia and more important aspects of this film just recently.

Based on the original novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep'.

Now that wouldn't make such a bad name for a RPG or board game.

Apart from the licence fee you'd need to pay for the title.

LBH

don't know if anyone is interested but WB are releasing a special edition thingy for blade runner which may have 3 other versions (plus the '07 directors cut - the other directors cut wasn't done by the director!) of the film on it plus a load of extras! for those of you who don't know if is worth having 4 versions simply becauase its been changed so much.

...and then read the book, if you want to be really confused. I think this should be an expansion for Paranoia...at least Do Androids Dream, anyways...

i till don`t believe he`s one of them, based on the unicorn scene which wa taken from another film.... In my mind he till human...

Hope i have not started a war over this :-)

i dont think he is either, but i read that there is a documentary on channel 4 in july about it and Ridley Scott says whether he is or not, but i suppose thats only his opinion on it so even if scott says he is an android it doesn't mean he is :D

Bladerunner... well, as a setting it's got lots of "charm". But, I suppose it could be lumped together with X-Files / Cyberpunk /Shadowrun-like themes.

Ive been a fan of Phil. k. dick's for years. If done properly (more like the book but with the atmosphere of the film) it could be fantastic. However, as someone who has made numerous attempts at contacting the BladeRunner Partnership for such an enterprise i can reassure everyone that they are extremely careful about the rights and there are tales abound in the movie realms of people attempting to get the rights and not being able to make contact even and when they do the partnership make the cost so prohibitive on purpose that it puts people off.
Until the rights expire I don't think we're going to see anything else to do with blade runner other than 'the final cut' dvd.

Well, one can always sidestep an "official" setting and instead craft a "dark future" setting that can accomodate Blade-runner-like (and Outland, and cyberpunk, and etc) adventures.

finished reading the book the other day. the film is surprisingly different to the book.

Yeah. Very different. They left out Mercerism (sp?), empathy boxes, the opera singer character...

IIRC, the androids in the book were more wires-n-circuitry than bio-engineered.

Last time I read the book was around '90 or '91.

I think that home-brewing the rules would be VERY easy, but, like the Noir genre upon which BR is based, it's all about flavour and atmosphere. I think that the Spycraft 2.0 rules would be great for it, IMHO.
