BF:Evo templates and tokens (pics)

Sgt. Brassones

Mongoose
I just picked these up at my FLGS:

Templates2.jpg

Templates3.jpg

3 out of command tokens
3 suppressed tokens
10 reacted tokens
1 fire zone marker
1 90 degree template marked with 6" fire zone and a summary of LOS rules

probably need 2 or 3 bags of those tokens. Stuff gets surpressed very quickly.

They look really nice. Will have to pick some up.

Looks nice, but yeah, needs a lot more suppression tokens.

Didn't think they'd get these tokens out so fast considering the main rulebook isn't out yet, so there could be some other effects that need tokens.

Thanks for posting pics of those, Sgt. Brassones. I've been planning to get some of them. I wonder why they didn't really make the "pie slice" 90 degrees, as it looks to be more like 60 degrees (guessing here)? It looks like it is made more for Fire Zones and as movement & targeting measurements. Some weeks ago I went to a local craft store and picked up (cheap) some 6" brass rings that are meant to make "dream-catchers" for around $1 and for $.29 each also grabbed some 6" plastic crochet disks. You can hold the semi-transparent soft plastic disks over models for Fire Zones or drop the brass rings on the table surface to "lasso" the enemy with. :)

The template is 60 degrees, the 90 degree arc is etched on it where the circle with arrow in it is. There definitley needs to be more suppressed markers and even some double suppressed ones. Funny thing, this set isn't on the GF9 website yet.

Yeah, OK. I see the 90-degree part now. You could always use two suppressed counters for doubles, but you'd run out of them even faster then. It looks like a case of thinking in "salesman terms", with a short stack of an item you would want more of . Of course they want you to buy more sets. Besides, they would argue that you should have more templates anyway (told you they were good salesmen, heh).

I have a set pre-ordered from some outfit and am now feeling a bit bad I did so. Don't know if I can change my order in time to include another set, as you need at least two to play a small game.

I think they could have dropped the reacted counters to somewhere in the 4-7 range, had 10 suppression counters which have "2x Suppressed" on the back, and give us 6 "Ready" markers with firing arcs for the MGs.

And sell the Fire Zone marker seperately, as nobody needs more than one of these.

Thanks for the Pics Sgt. Brassones, but dang I wish I had ordered 2, as this will be minimum required for small games.

Looks like my SST counters are going to still see plenty of use, especially the "Readied" counters.

Have to agree I think its just stupid to only have 3 suppressed markers... Especaily when they give you 10 reacted markers.... I would think that should be the other way round, and you would still be looking at getting 2 sets to field a decent sized battle. They should also add some readied countes (with a facing mark on them), we have been hinted at that readied is going to be a lot more useful come the Advanced Rules.

I like the idea of using Epic 40K blast markers for suppression, and sucsessful hits on vehicles, which is what I think Mr Evil was doing in those pics he posted as a battle report.

have to say there working great.

on units it represents supression, ie 2 is double supressed.

on vehicles it acts as damage markers

for ready actions and reacted (large games) were using the epic dice cross hairs for ready and ! for reacted and one of the other sybols probably for when a unit gives its command action (again for realy big games)

The set looks good, I'll have to pick one up when I see it here. I don't know about the suppressed markers though. I must be doing something wrong. I don't think I've ever suppressed a unit (and I haven't lost yet).

supressio we find only comes in from either huge waves of infantry shooting a small squad or suport weapons hitting a smallish sized squad, fire teams ger supreesed quit often, but overal in the tourny i think we only supressed about 3 units during entire thing and that was from a chain gun.

This has been my plan too. I've got some blast markers coming in from Litko (not quite as well-based as GF9's, but cheaper) to act as supession markers. I still plan to pick up one of these packs, though.

It does seem like they missed a few opportunities. Not using the second side of the supressed counters for double supressed, not using the second side of the out of command counters for tracking how many actions have been lost. Still, this is just the first release, still so new it hasn't made their website yet. We'll have to see if they do some more sets down the road, say when the advanced rules (and helicopters) come out.

I like the idea of marked dice... You could have one die which has, Suppressed, Doubly Suppressed, Out of Command, Reacted, Readied and ...... I dunno, maybe smoke (depending on how smoke works in the AMRbook.

As for suppressed units we tend to have lots of them in our games, mind you we often split units down into fire teams... Saying that I have seen more than a few full 7-9 men squads suppressed, 1 MG can suppress an 8 man unit, by itself.

I was able to add a second set to my order from Exodus Road Hobbies & Miniatures. They informed me my set should ship out on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Definately using the Ready Markers from my old SST set.

Got the fire markers for hit tanks, though and they are cool.

The 6th side of the die could be Agile. To mark vehicles that have this specail ability if they move over 8inches in an action such as the FAV.

looks good

i may get these done from games ive played (still playing)

1: Supressed (SUP)
2: double supprsed (DSUP)
3: out of command (OC)
4: Reacted (RCTD)
5: Ready (RDY)
6: Smoke (SMK)
7: Unit specail action (ie agile) (SPCL)
8: cautouse movment (CM)

This could be done on a D8 so not to be confused with d6

then a D4 for

1:Vstol (V)
2:Loiter (L)
3:Cruise (C)
4:burn (B)

pack of dice could be done then with

1D4
9D8's

if youur gonna need a second D4 for air then your def gonna need mor of the D8 special action dice.

i prefer dice to counters as i can never pick up damn counters.

Sounds good Mr E. I know some people who would be intrested in those dice as well.... especaily if some company went and did a cheap marketing trick and made dice for each faction.

The only binder is that there need to be enough die to make it worth the effort, 1 and 8 sounds good to me, esp if each player has their own set.

Whilst these tokens look nice the short suply of suppression markers makes the pack an instant no no for me.
