BF Evo in S&P Wargamer

Yup, it's not even out already and already you're being asked what BF Evo articles you'd like to see in the hallowed pages of Signs & Portents.

Given that the mag needs to be prepared in advance and that can sometimes take time to get things into the publication queue though, it's not really that early to be asking - and the sooner BF Evo material can get in after the game's launch, the better.

So, what kind of articles would you like to see in S&P for BF Evo?

Battle reports, even small scale actions involving only a squad or two. Just show off the figures, and give us an idea of what the game is like...

I'll second the battle reports. I'd especially like to see how helos and fast movers are handeled.

And consider it thirded. :D

I am really interested to see how the helos work as well. Heck, I am just really interested in seeing them at all!

And as far as the Ghurkas, aren't they already being considered? I thought that I saw that in this months S&P article...

Ghurkas, and the Black Watch

LBH

Without having read all the playtest stuff I may be wrong, but wouldn't the Highland regiments be represented by Infantry Sections on the table? Last I heard the Highlanders don't get any extra gear or fancy training, so in terms of stats they'd be the same as any other infantry regiment.

Even if theres no specific models there could always be info on repainting (for those that have specific uniform differences), and some background on various regiments.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, all infantry battalions dress in standard combats for live ops. The uniform differences are largely things like berets and unit patches. Berets aren't worn in action and unit patches are too small to see on models at this scale.

Gurkhas, now, will rock mightily. They're very bad dudes and move like ghosts...

I'd like to see scenerios that tied into the new realeases for that month so you get to try out your new stuff?

Also how about a campaian? you could run it over a couple of months and it'll get your locals who don't play into it?

Fibua fighting? using the SAS models (of course :D ) do hostage rescue missions?

LDTD has it right, basically the only differances are berets, unit patchs and ceremonial dress, none of which are useful for this so use them as any unit you like. ghurkas however could be interesting.

The Black Watch technically no longer exist now all the Scottish Regiments have been merged. They are just a part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland now.

Surely the Black Watch was exempted from the merge after the massive (and unbelievably stupid) public outcry? At least that's what I got from Soldier magazine and newspaper articles back in my uniform days.

Definitly upcoming units, playtests and tactics. Also gameplay variations, like using 5 sas fig and 10 terrorist in a urban board doing a Rainbow Six or Counter Strike type game. One off games like that with respawning and stuff is really good for demos and tourney play.. keeps things fresh

AFAIK they get to keep blackwatch capbadges and such in their battalion

But even after the merge the Blackwatch would still exist, just as a battalion instead of a Regiment, and since that's what their actual combat strength was anyway...
