Betrayer of Asgard (upcoming release)?

Content is more important

Well yeah, sure. Don't get me wrong, I'll still buy the book. But after having been spoiled by Quilliams covers I'll be keeping my eyes closed every time I pull this and the Khitai book off the shelf. Don't think those two books will display well at the shops either.

Conan fans are a special sort I think.

I believe most people who play the game already know and like the setting and that there are very few people who play the game and didn't know the about the Hyborian Age.

I think the comments of you guys once you have read it will have a greater effect - and Gareth has really knocked the ball out of the park on this one. You don't want to miss it!

As they say: "don't judge a book by its cover".
I'll miss Quilliam's art nonetheless, but that won't prevent me from buying the books.

I'm not crazy about the cover either, but it never entered my mind that I wouldn't buy this adventure just because I didn't like the cover.

I don't "hate" the cover, either. It just does nothing for me. A good cover should "inspire" me and make me want to play the game. This one certainly doesn't.

It might affect me more if I were coming in new to Conan. But, I'm so sold on Conan and Mongoose's work on the game that it would have to be a crappy cover indeed before I wouldn't buy something that otherwise looked cool because of it.

And, Betrayer of Asgard certainly looks cool.

I like published adventures. They make it easy for a GM to run a game (and with the d20 system, a GM needs all the help he can get).

You keep publishing adventures, and I'll buy every one of them.

This one included.

Way cool !
The preview is quite weird as it contents some major spoilers (so players beware!) but the whole stuff looks pretty interesting. I found strange that Mongoose chose to publish an Asgardian adventure when there's no regional book available and following closely the release of the Cimmeria book (and the future publication of Kithai). Most companies would have published an adventure to support their sourcebook, rather than an independent one.

Problem is I haven't finished reading Trial of Blood yet, and Cimmeria and Cities are waiting on my bookshelf. It looks like Mongoose has a real problem about release schedules: after the long months of emptiness of the "Long Wait", it seems we're entering a "Conan Swarm" era. Cimmeria, Cities, Betrayer, Kithai: four books in one month !

I just have to find some trick to duplicate myself. One for Gming Conan and another to live my mundane life...

My apologies for the spoiler preview, i dont have chance to read the material myself (i just work...)

Luckily i only went as far as page 30 i beleive so thats 100+ more pages i didnt spoil :)

I suspect that, more than just spoilers, we are looking to interesting bits.
And I'm happy of that!
In the Introduction preview it is said that "This adventure arc has several unusual features" and I think I've spotted one of them.
Among these previews I find two things to note:

1)
in the preview it is said that:
- a famous evil sorcerer named Logri is already dead and buried years ago but is destined to be raised up.
- ages ago a cimmerian slave of the Hyporboreans became the head of a line of Aesir kings.
- the characters should start as 5th level....

2)
The pre-made character sheets.
In the description of such chaaracters the reader is refered as "you" so I thought these were pre-made pcs to be used instead of the usual pcs.....
....but there are a series of suspecting details suggesting that these characters are supposed to play in the past:
- in the description it looks like Logri is still alive (and not just raised up from death.
- Hrulf could be the Cimmerian slave destined to be king.
- such characters are 9th level!!

Possible conclusions:
I really hope we are going to see a part of the campaign which is played as a "flashback" with long-dead characters....I really liked those scenic strategies in old Vampire sourcebooks and the possible presence of such a strategy in a Conan sourcebook is certainly great!!

Exactly. There's a section half-way through where you play long-dead heroes from Hyperborea.

Yes I love this! Just like in Vampire's Ashes to Ashes LucaCherstich mentioned or in the Kult campaign Taroticum. The whole thing looks very nice so far (if you except the cover...).

These previews have not been proofread and finalized for publication have they?

While the product looks good, there are a number of errors in the character sheets.

And they have finally seen the light and adopted my cunning plan!

Characters will automatically be healed back
up to full Hit Points in between adventures and often
there will be gaps in the action where the characters are
also healed back to full.

I always do this. It really helps the pacing.

I've always done this, too. Usually 3 days of rest are enough to recover full HP anyway. I count normal traveling as "rest". Most travels take longer than 3 days. No need to micromanage this stuff.
