Anybody remember Battlezone? Not the Arcade classic, but the game that came out sometime around 1996-9ish.
Basically, for those who missed it, it revolved around a secret war in the 60's between the USA, (Interstellar Defense Force?) and the USSR (C.S.A).* Irt was fought on the moon, Mars, Venus, Io, Europa, Titan and Titan's moon (I know Titan is a moon of Jupiter, alright? At least I think...)
It was fought over a 'bio-metal' which was smelted by an extinct alien race, which was eventualy revealed to have been killed by a weapon they made called 'The Furies'.
Eventually, as these things go, the Soviets reactivated the Furies, and the US and the USSR joined forces to defeat them.
The game itself was a clever mix of FPS (In many vehicles and on foot) and RTS, as you had to produce units to support you and for your own use.
Overall, it was basically armoured warfare with infantary being used to secure ground, and was pretty good.
It would make a GREAT wargame.
*These where the force's names. I'm not sure what C.S.A. stood for exactly.
