Battle Report: Megacon 2007 ACTA Tourney

It was a 5 point raid Tournament and I decided to go with ISA with 5 Basic White Stars rolling up and was excited to be at my very first tournament after only 5 months of playing ACTA in Campaigns.

My first opponent was Combined League. He had 3 Bimith Defenders along with 6 Tzymm Heavy Fighters , a Xill Battle saucer, and A Xixx Torpedo Saucer.

The battle was decently well for the both of us and first Turn I obliterated a Bimith with a 6-6 Crit on my Neutron Laser dealing over 48 points of damage and one of his Bimiths a few turns later broadsided a white star into exploding. I managed to take out his Xixx and all but 3 fighters before time was called. 15 points for me.

The 2nd Battle was against the Dreaded Centauri Beam team. He had a Tetrius, 2 Prefects and 2 Vorchar scout ships. The battle went in my favor early but at the expense of 2 white stars I took out his Tetrius with combined Neutron Laser fire. I opened a jump point on his Tetrius as well and a Vorchar for minimal damage but the Nial Fighters were the Heros of this round as another 2 of my White Stars crashed due to bad skindancing but I managed to get a White Star to hang behind a Prefect while the Nials kept shooting up 1 Vorchar to make it run adrift and the other Nials took on the Prefect and kept attacking it. The battle ended with 1 white star taking out the last Prefect and all 5 Nial Flights still alive and a Vorchar that was on the other side of the table. 50 points for me

Last battle was against Crusade Era Earth and the player had 4 Hermese Transports, 1 Apollo, 1 Cronos, and a Delphi. The game was back and forth with him taking all anti-fighter missiles and making a no-dodge game for me, I took out a hermese transport in the opening shots but whiffed on beams that just needed +2 three times in a row on his other hermese transports. He crippled a white Star with a Full salvo of missiles that got some good crits in and later his Chronos got a 6-6 crit on another white star and took it out completely. The Nials mostly lost to dogfights vs a team of Thunderbolts and starfurys but 2 managed to survive the fighter cloud. I did mop up the remaining Hermese transports but it took longer due to his amazing intercepter rolls that made molecular pulsars next to worthless. 3 White Stars just out manuvered the Earth fleet and forced them to try and make me overshoot them. His Delphi ran off the table crippled and his apollo was stuck in space taking neutron lasers to the death. Final victory point count: 53 points for me.

I ended up winning the Tournament and receiving a Centauri Reinforcements box which was a real sweet prize and despite the White Stars getting a nerf in the Armageddon supplement, they are very powerful but you cant just charge headlong into a fleet and expect them to survive long. If the mission lets you keep stuff in Hyperspace, do it whenever possiable the advanced jump point works out nicely and I brought my stuff where I wanted it.

thanks. Suprisingly the hardest opponent was the Earth player, he chose anti-fighter missiles at the start of the battle for all his ships which made things very difficult.

a 15" weapon that ignores dodge will ruin any white star's day

it's certainly not a common choice, but against white stars, certainly useful. Similiar range to the WS weapons, more hits = better chance for crits, and would likely round down to 1 damage without a crit either way.
Nice!

Lucky he didn't face a 10 Sag Fleet, would got messy real quick or 5 Sag, 10 Hermes or combination there of. Sags still rock. Losing the anti fighter weapon that they hardly ever used isn't a big loss for them.

No but going to Hull 4 is a big deal! They're still very good but they're not all-powerful anymore.

On a good average shot I can 1 shot a sagg with a full round of shots with the whitestar. Its the side missiles are the concern.
