Base Advice

So my fleet has being sitting there for a very long time, as i want to make sure they are "Based" correctly.

The big design flaw is still the plastic vertical Rod. Whenever i have used these in the past i have found that they break quite easily.

i want something that will also allow easy storage.

Any advice?

soon some one will post threads that show.

1. barrel clasp on brass rods
2. Use of a large wood nail
3. mine i drill and pin aluminum tube to the base and the ship. all of the above make for solid base that can be made removable or a solid build.

Glue/green 1cm of brass rod to the bottom of the ship. Glue 5cm of slightly larger brass rod to the base. Voila, removable bases :D

Use very wide brass rod if you're scared of fighters ignoring stealth within 1"

I've been using a brass rod that I glue into the ship and a aluminum tube that the rod fits into and mount that onto the base. In the end you have a ship with a sturdy rod on the bottom and bases that have an aluminum stem instead of the plastic thing. The brass rod also helps when painting, giving a nice place to hang onto when doing detail work. :)

thanks, I tend to paint before asembly, with a touch up after wards, it allows more detail in my opinon (espically on white stars!)
