I've just bought arms & equipment and I was quite surprised not to find any armor penalties for the new armor set. I found no references at all. Did Mongoose give up armor penalties, is there an erratum to be downloaded somewhere or did I miss something ?
Unless the armour has special qualities (i.e. the Nimble effect from the RQ Companion) multiply the AP by the number of locations covered to get the skill penalty, e.g. a Chainmail shirt has 5 AP and covers Abdomen, Arms (both of them) and Chest so its penalty is 5 x 4 = 20% penalty.
If wearing more than one set of armour only use the highest AP rating per location.
The armour penalties are standard from the main rulebook. I left the notation out of the actual book in order to make it more up to the various game settings to decide how they would run penalties.
So no, you did not miss them...they weren't there!
AP times covered areas ^^
Thanks a lot I didn't have the formula.
Anyway A&E is a very cool sourcebook, I especially enjoyed the idea of giving bonus to skill while wearing certain cloths (+5% to influence rolls when girl's wearing a corset lol loved that)
IMHO for a simple RQ game the answer is no. I have been running my game for 6 months now and never opened it. If you are running something exotic or home-brewed, then there is a case for purchase, but overall I am not convinced.
Some snippets from Arms and Equipment I intend using in my campaigns.
Not sure I buy into all the suggestions on altering arms and armour.
I conceed that plate armour can be re-enforced ( it was historically, though this is for jousting and not 'actual' combat/campaigning conditions. )
Not sure any self-respecting weapon smith or weilder would ever find use for 'banded' modification .
