April Painting Challenge

OK, you heard the man and you know the drill. Here's Painting Challenge number 3.

the rules:

• You are hereby required to paint a bunch of minis, intending to get them done before the end of the month
• You have until the 14th to decide what you're going to paint, at that point you're committed to finishing what yopu've said you'll do
• You can start painting whenever you're ready
• You're not limited to MGP minis, but at least some would be a nice courtesy as it's their bandwith we're using to talk
• When you're finished, we'd like for you to post some photos

OK, my vows for the month:

3 shadow Scouts (one left over from last month's pledges), and however many Shadow fighters come in a fleet box

Depending on how well I do with them, I've got 4 tharn Ravagers, a Woldwatcher, and a whole bunch of EA stuff I may add in.

I'm off to a good start so far. the Uhlans and Grizzlies are assembled and undercoated. I've modified the Grizzlies so their guns attach by magnets

Yeah, I have a baaad track record on these things, but these are at least primed, which motivates me to paint them.

Especially pleased with the orc marines and chasseurs (I especially like the LMG'er for these guys), the foreign legion look somewhat 'wrong'? I think it's the faces. They remind me of 'Elmo' from Sesame street... :lol:

I will finish my last vow. Even if it kills me. However, I will replace a Predator with a Vestal.

I am more than halfway through it by now, and I don't have a huge event to help organise anymore. So, more time to apply paint to stuff.

Irong Fangs and Exosuits done aside from painting the bases. I'll probably do the Exo bases this week, but leave the Iron Fangs till later in the month as I do a snow effect for my Khador minis and I've a bunch more waiting on it.

Other pledges have taken a slight delay as I assemble a bunch of hordes minis for my Circle army so I'm not proxying. This should be finished tonight, and then it's into the Trolls. hoping to get them assembled before the weekend to paint them then.

Once I finish my pledges for the month I'll be working my way into some more long-term projects - the conversion of 18 Wolves of Orboros to have brass spears instead of the ultra thin metal ones they come with, and starting to build terrain, as I plan to have a full cityscape done for BF:Evo demo games at a con in October.

The Skinnies are well on their way with almost all the Raiders finished and the Speeders moving at a fair pace.

Still not too sure on some of the colours I'm using on my Venerables but hey I'll work that as I go along!

I'm actually almost done with my Marathon. I think it will be named the Maxwell. I don't know why, it just sounds cool... The EAS Maxwell. Anyway, there's no chance in hell I'll finish the Nemesis Cruisers unless I'm struck by insomnia for several days in a row.

So basically I've not had the time, energy or inclination to paint much of late, so I'm not going to get the trolls or shadows done in the next three days. Oh well. I'll post photos of the whopping 6 minis I did get painted (still not done the bases, of course) tomorrow.
