Anybody got world at war evo..?

Yep got mine at Salute - can't leave Salute without a new set of ules to read!

So far so good - I will play these rules - my only questions at the moment are:

1) no thompson SMGs are listed and no stats given for allied forces just M3 grease guns instead - thats a bit wrong afaik ww2

2) can a figure benefit from both an Obscured LOS and Cover - if not why not?

cheers

Yes i know what you mean, but its still a smg etc..!!

As for the Obscured LOS and Cover , i thought obscured was lt cover, which is a +1 to kill only..?

I`m off to bed for another read, it was the only rules i picked up from salute, and some nice changes and new stuff, but as you said they is a few little things missing or mis placed, ie/ bombs and not rockets on the typhoon, but a army book would sort that out, i was thinking using the campaigh rules from old evo with WAW..

No, See P.20, left column, Summary of Cover, Terrain and LOS.

The book looks amazing, pity it's not in colour, or better yet a colour hardback.

ah well yeah such is mongoose these days maybe if the PB version does well...

Mine turned up in the post today - and I'm in Australia! Good work people!

I too was surprised it was in black and white but it's still pretty good. Nice to see the Engangement matrix is still around. I would have liked the 'Stream' trait to have remained for flamethrowers. Still, that's a trifle.

Looking forward to demoing this but I have to wait for my Bolt-Action-via-Mongoose order to get here - probably some weeks away :( .

Cheers

Question #2 was expertly answered by LBH above.

Question #1 I'll answer in reverse order in two parts:

Part 2 - M3 first showed up in WWII, so it is a-okay to include.
Part 1 - No Thompson?!?!?!   Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Over :?: :!: :?: :!: :?: :!:

If it is not hiding somewhere you missed, then MGP should be  about this oversight. Uncle Tommy Rocks! While heavy, the weapon only has 11 working parts AFAIK, which made it incredibly reliable, and the choice of US NCOs on both fronts (along with any other soldier/marine who could get his hands on one). An SMG is nothing more than an expensive club if it doesn't go bang after a little dirt gets in it. Poor M-3

Pleased i`m not the only one with the rules..

Some questions

1. Why is the sherman the slowest tank around, slower then the tiger..?

2. The tiger tank main gin has piecing 1 ? should that be piecing / 3

3/ Should War at war have its own sub section from standed Evo, since its a new rules system etc..

Cheers all

Alan-Uk

1) dunno sounds off to me...
2) Tiger I had the L57 gun (piercing 1) tiger II had the L71 gun (piercing 2
3) YES absolutely!

Also no grenade rules and grenade launchers seem over ranged afaik ww2.

This is small stuff - the game should work very well I think - look forward to giving it a run through soon.

Thompson - not included because the Thompson was replaced during late war by the M3/M3A1 submachine gun, and the M1/M2 carbine.
I included the Thompson in the Pacific war draft.
If your minis are equipped with one assume the same stats, all SMG are the same in WaW.

Sherman - Speed 38 km/h (but only for a brief time!) - 3"/7" in WaW
Tiger I - Speed 38 km/h - 4"/8" in WaW
All fine for me...

Guns:
Tiger I: 8.8cm L56 anti-tank gun 60” D10+4 Lethal Zone/1”, Multihit, Piercing/1, Slow
Tiger II: 8.8cm L71 anti-tank gun 60” D10+4 Lethal Zone/1”, Multihit, Piercing/3, Slow

OK? Both guns are absolutely deadly in WaW, as it should be...

It does seem like the Tiger's gun is powerful. For comparative curiousity, wait is the hit/kill scores for the Shermans and its armor?

Thanks for reply.

I am ok treating all smg the same stat wise (i'll play final combat if I'm in that kinda mood).

BUT

what about grenades I dont see them in WaW?

Yes no grenades, but the stats are in the SST playtest rules, i guess they are not that powerful to use in ww2, or that its apart of close combat..?

Also no medic rules, but again i guess ww2 medical knowledge was very poor unlike todays training..

Both grenades and "no medics" were pure game design decisions of Matt.
I had written 2 versions for Medics:
1 -like SSt 1st ed
2nd - more or less like 40K or AT-43 medic
Both did not went in; which is -IMO- in retrospect a very good decision.
Medics are just a throttle on Kill velocity.
The design is more on the abstract level (see above - all SMGs have the same stats) - medics just did not fit in...
