Y'know, like the old dungeoneer rpg (advanced ff),burning wheel rpg, etc? It would be physically more in line with the gamebooks as well, and plus this way they could all be put on the same shelf. 8)

Well mongoose has published pocket sized editions of their books (such as pocket conan) therefore its not like the concept is alien to them, nor do they lack the ability to fit pages and artwork into such a format. So there is still hope.
Also, as the recently released indie rpg called burning empires showed, its possible for such a sized book to have glossy AND full color pages, as well as have a hefty page count. (b.e had 600pg's AFAIK)
It's an interesting idea, to say the least, but I simply don't see it happening. Lone Wolf is a product that will meet only small demand and will fill a very tiny niche on the market, so I'd say the Mongosse aren't going to do any experiments with this new edition, they'll put something out there that will capture the interest of every former Lone Wolf RPG player and might interest casual players as well. Then again, a book in an alltogether different size might be good in that perspective as well.
We'll see
Right now I'd like to know who's writing the game (Mr. Hahn again, maybe?) and what kind of rules system will be used? Again some version of d20 (doubtful) something entirely new based on the rules of the gamebooks itself or a modification of Mongoose's RuneQuest...???
It would be really nice if a hardback collectors edition in the same format as the game books where produced. It is possible to do really nice RPGs in this format my favourite are the Dragon Warriors books of which there where six I think. One of the nicest features was how rules and illustration worked together, pictures of the weapons with their stats next to them and a falling damage chart that actually had some poor guy falling off of a cliff.
It would also be nice if Mongoose commited to a minumum tool kit of books so we could easily put together our own classes or that the gamebooks themselves became the resource and you could run parties into places such as Kazan Oud using the game book as a multiplayer adventure. It should be possible if the beasties use the same rules and your players aren't too awkward.
