An inquiry re: "Author's Cut" and alternate play s

Heya folks. Proteus454 here...as, er, as you can see ^^;

So I've been mulling it over for a bit now, in preparation for a few personal projects, and I wanted to your opinion.

Mr. Neugebauer presents an "Author's Cut" including, amongst other things, a pair of mechanics closely reminiscent of ACTA - the Command Distance bit, and most significantly, the altered I-go-you-go in place of turns and Reactions.

So my open question is: have any of you nice folks played a few games with this mechanic? If so, how did it work out? And what "sort" of games and scenarios would you recommend it for?

Well, I played a lot of games using the modified game turn system.

IMO it works for games up to 1500 points, the bigger the battle the less fun it can become.
It is easy to lose track then. It adds a new element to the game and plays different, for smaller scale skirmish style it is very nice.

I dropped it altogether since the Logo License came out since the turn structure is there set in stone, so no need to play around with an unchangeable element of the game...

BTW: What are you planning?

*nods* I see what you mean. It COULD end up being tedious at a very large scale, with all the fiddly little squads and fireteams...
...mind you, with multibased squads, it could be a different story. Ah, but that's another kettle of fish.

Ah yes, there IS that. Fair point.
