Ambush - Defender Holds the Field

Does the defender get the 5 VPs for holding the field in Ambush? The scenario has waved the points for tactical withrdawing ships but I dont see anything about Holding the field for the defender. My thought was the scenario was meant for the attacker to hit and then run.

If the defender gets 5pts for holding the field, then the attacker will have to kill more than 5 pts before he can flee...correct?
