Hey, I was wondering if Mongoose had any rules for Airburst grenade launchers yet? Cause, if they didn't, I had an idea for rules that could be used (while keeping them relatively balanced)
XM25 Grenade Launcher
Range: 16" Damage: D6+1
Has two firing modes.
Impact Mode: Use normal grenade launcher rules.
Airburst Mode: If a ready action is taken before firing (to enter targeting data into the computer), range is increased to 24", and ignores cover saves. Using airburst mode requires taking a ready action before each shot, and if the model moves before firing, said model needs to make a ready action again before firing in airburst mode.
The idea behind needing to ready a shot before firing in airburst mode is to give a reason to attach an assault rifle to the launcher (like the XM29 OICW). While powerful, airburst grenades require the user to hold still to be effective, and as any good wargamer knows, mobility is key. On the other hand, a squad armed with Airburst Grenades along side a SAW-gunner can become difficult to root out of cover.
Just an idea.
