Mongoose
Rooting around on a defunct AofG site

see they had ships for Cascor and Hyach

will they be made for CtoA?

If not are there home stats mad by anyone?

Ditto some of the AofG ships that are not in CtoA yet, see cople of Pak ships for sure/ Are there others?

Matt has said their are plans for the Hyach, but not this year. Of course long term plans like that are always subject to change.

Also note that the AoG Hyach and Cascor ships are FA scale and so their moulds are not immediately useful for Mongoose, who could of course choose to make the ships of either race different...

Erm theyre FA scale and hence NOT useful for Mongoose I would have to say. Mongoose has in nearly all cases gone with the B5Wars scale minis (Except where fighters are concerned and I ALWAYS used FA fighters anyway even in B5wars, it just looks better ;))

Yes a terrible waste of assets, the Fleet action scale, but i guess we'll never see that scale from Mongoose.
And Gropos which have been left to gather dust while the Mongoose's eyes are on more profitable ventures. :)

ok as a newbie to the game what exactly is the difference in scale between AOG FA and the current CtoA minis ( I have a small fleet of Cntauri in the painting stages)?

I guess a history lesson is the best method.

AoG produced the game B5wars and models to go with it. Later on they produced a Fleet scale game called Fleet Action (FA), with its own smaller scale models.

After AoG went bust Mongoose aquired the old AoG moulds, B5wars and FA scale. They decided to use the B5wars scale models with the FA scale fighters for ACtA, although they have used some full scale fighters for small ships (Vree patrol boat is actually the B5wars Tyzmm fighter, and the Por'fa'tis is a full scale fighter model).

The White Star fighter is the FA scale White Star. The new Vorlon Transports are FA scale models.

Basically they were a smaller scale used for a fleet combat game (B5wars was too complex to easily play games with more than a few ships). Mongoose chose to use mainly the larger models (even if their game is closer in scale to FA than B5wars).

You can find pictures of FA scale ships on this site, although if Abraxas's experience is anything to go by, might not want to attempt to buy any...

OK

So FA ships are smaller, meaning the fighter ships must be pin point size

So how much smaller?

How out of placve would a Cascor fleet look on a table with CtoA minis?

personally i think they look out of place if you are playing against a fleet with full size models (but they look better than counters)

The FA scale fighters are the ones used in ACtA, the B5wars scale fighters came one to a stand... (The Vree Patrol ship and Pak'ma'ra fighter, as i mentioned above are examples of B5wars scale fighters).

You could use the FA scale ships easily enough in a game of ACtA, many people do, and in the case of Cascor and Hyach there are no full scale models to compare them to, unlike some of the other races. I don't have any Cascor or Hyach ships so I can't say exactly how out of scale they are I'm afraid.

The point we were making is that Mongoose couldn't use them straight off because they wouldn't be in their prefered larger scale. Nothing to stop you from buying some FA ones and using them yourself however. I believe that Mongoose used the FA scale Apollo and scaled it up to the larger size, so its possible they could do the same with these, might be misremembering...

Okay this will be pretty rough scaling but may be of some help.

Using the standard hexagonal base that AoG used you can get a rough idea of how big these are.

Full scale Omega (Don't know if you have one, ask if you want another ship for comparison):

An FA Omega:

And finally FA scale Hyach:

These images always come in useful. FA scale are the small ships to the right. The fighters too if I recall correctly - but Mongoose has elected to go with the larger B5Wars scale with the smaller FA scale fighters.

the smaller FAs would make excelleent way to do the various ship mods versions . they look the same but are simply smaller.

I am still waiting rule book so not sure when it comes to Centauri which hulls have alternate names and stat lines or I might invest that way

As for Cascor I guess they ciould juast be generall smaller ships?
