Advice needed for Force for April event

Hi all

Im new to Judge Dredd, been a long time player of B5 a call to arms and other non Mongoose games.

What I need is some advice on the crew to take with me to the event. Im not looking for a cheesy list, but I want to have fun and not be wiped in every games because I made a fundimental flaw in my composition.

So forces I like the look of (I will be choosing one of these purely on looks)
1 Judges of Mega City 1
2 Brit Judges
3 Sov Judges

Now I wrote out a standard Judge list which was 1 Street judge, 2 rookies and 2 cadets (would have liked to take 4 cadets just for theme of group but they are mecs?????? but have same stats as rookie judges!!!!).

Brit Judges list is 3 judges as they dont get access to Cadets or rookies........sad face

Same goes with the Sov......

Is this an oversite? Should they have some Cadets or rookies?

Can you tell me if this would be ok to use? or if it has issues?

Generally you wouldn't include mercenaries in your regular force, so 1 street judge and 4 rookies would be the usual route to take. However, if it was me I'd take 3 judges instead of adding in the rookies and/or cadets. Yes, you get more models on the table your way but the judges are better quality troops plus you get access to talents and upgrades as they're all heroes. My standard force for the Justice Department is 2 street judges and 1 psi judge.

The Sov and Brit Cit judges are both visitors to Mega City One (OK, so the Sov judges are doing a little more than visiting ) so it makes sense for them not to include rookies or cadets. Now if we had rules for Brit Cit as a setting then you could expect them to have that option.

Would taking a Psi Judge be complicated for a Noob like me?

Upon closer inspection Judges with their 2 HP might be better than rookies.........

I don't think so - psi powers are Talents like any other...

When it comes to the psi judge, stick with something straightforward for your initial psi talents and you'll be fine. Ectoplasmic Shield is good starting talent with no prerequisites, just use it as your first action and it lasts for the rest of the game so there's nothing complicated to worry about.
