ACTASF Tactics Papers Wanted!

Hi everyone,

This is just a reminder that you can submit your clever ideas about ACTASF to the Call Out Notes section of ADB's BBS and maybe see your name in print.

The way it works is that you submit your tactical idea in the topic. Other players have a chance to comment on it and maybe help you refine it. Before Captain's Log goes to press, the papers are sent to a panel of judges who read them and rate them. The best papers are published first and usually only one paper per person gets published in an issue (other good ones are held for future issues). As you write more papers, you advance in rank from cadet to captain. You also earn ribbons for having contributed to Captain's Log.

So feel free to share with us!

Hi Jean

I've got a couple I was just going to mail to you.

Looking at the BBS, how do you join it?

It says click on Instant Registration at the left, but there isn't a registration button that I can see.

Ben2, you've asked one of the Great Mysteries of the BBS. :)

Over in the left frame, under "Utilities" is a link to "Instant Registration." I also think you can use this link directly: http://www.starfleetgames.com/cgi-bin/discus/board-profile.cgi?action=register

Do remember that we ask folks to use their real names there. It gets you credit for your ideas and it also tends to keep things civil as people remember they are having a conversation with Real People.

The software is arcane enough that we haven't seen it being used for harvesting emails.

If you find you need to email someone a Call Out Note (this shouldn't happen often -- I think we've had a younger member of our Forum submit something when his parents wisely told him he couldn't use his real name on the Web yet), then it would be to Steven Petrick. Please PM me if you need his email address.

Does that help?

You need to use this link to get the BBS index (that shows the frame on the left).

Actually, that is the one URL I have to not use when checking the BBS on my Vita; the web browser on it is such that it messes up the formatting if you have multiple frames on the same page. Essentially, it thinks that the portion of each frame you see on-screen is all that there is; so you can't actually scroll down properly. So, I have this link saved in my Vita's bookmarks instead. (For the same reason, I have to use the basic HTML version of Gmail on the handheld's browser, instead of the standard view.)
