ACTA miniature revival? Also, players near Portland Oregon?

Does anyone have any word on whether another company wil pick up the production of the ACTA miniature line? Also, I live in the Portland, Oregon area and would be interested in finding players for this tabletop game. Would like to get in some practice over the next few months before heading to Gamestorm 12 in March!

Don't think it will happen in the sense you mean. Matt has indicated that some / a few select ship minis could be avialable as part of the Mongoose forge restart.

Rumoured on the forum to be Gaim ships. Speculation has also stretched to non AOG line ships, need to wait and see.

These days I am also trawling through other mini ranges and selecting ships/fleets that would be suitable for Bab 5 races that were never released as well as scratchbuilding a few of my own.

I tend to agree. WB is pretty uptight about their license these days.

I sure hope that the "select few" would be the ones that are truly nice.

There are 2, probably 3 ships I like from the Gaim range.. But sorry to say that some MGP creations, like the Myrmidon and Brivoki, were pure nightmare.

So, where do you folks tend to buy minis for ACTA these days? I've been checking Ebay and Craigslist with minimal success. I'm trying to find a website that's maybe trying to unload their ACTA minis at a discount.

Kinda depends on what fleet you're interested in..

You could check Agentsofgaming.com, but some of the canon ships are already gone.

FRP games do have most of them still listed and many are on discounts, but they're swamped as well. I have an order from almost 3 months ago that has yet to be shipped.

Still buying a few official from IWM, and probably until they no longer produce, i.e end of this year at best.

For proxies, have been buying GZG a lot recently, IWM BSG ships although other company resins would work just as well of course and even found some Yolu proxies at Rattlehead.

Star Combat News is a good website for summarising what alternative minis are available out there.

NOW>>>>someone from PDX speaks up!!!

Regent, Im trying to get back up there to actually game with some ppl in OLY so Ill keep you in mind (im hoping before the end of sept)

shopofmagic.com has minis and Im looking into this seller who used to have a site up and seeing how to push his name out to fellow buyers.
stay tuned

I'd be more than happy seeing only select ships come back. I really think Mongoose over did it with some of the line. I mean, did we really need different models for the multiple variants of the Hyperion? Bring back the core ships from the big 4, as well as the Shadows and Vorlons, maybe raiders as well (all three fleets are both popular and only feature a few models each) and select ships from the league. That would make me happy.

It comes down to the question: who selects the "select few"?
And what's the criteria for the selection? Popularity or licensing convenience?

Whats seen on screen, for one, as well as the best sellers. I honestly thought that the model line was getting a little over the top myself. I'll be the first to admit that, sadly, babylon 5 doesn't have the largest following. The spread of models, while awesome, couldn't have been cost effective. There are just some models that wont sell well, especially when there is such a large range

A few years ago I bought the boxed Narn fleet and boxed Centauri fleet. Don't remember what I spent on them, but the price for boxed fleets I'm finding is $99.95. Is this on par with their original retail price? Wasn't sure if the unavailability of these minis was driving the prices up or not.

What was in them? Were they the 1st or 2nd ed boxes?

As for the select few, I believe my top 12 would be:
Omega
Hyperion
Sharlin
Whitestar
Primus
Vorchan
G'quan
Avioki
Sunhawk
Xill
Shadow Battlecruiser
Vorlon Heavy Cruiser

In other words: ships that appeared in season 3-4. Which IMO was b5's finest hour.
Of course it's highly unlikely it would be them, but hey.. There's no hope but a fool's hope.

I fully agree here. Regrettably Warner will have a licence for all the canon ships and if I remember right for much of the AOG stuff MGP used, so it depends on the licence cost if we see any of the classic ships again. It would be great as they are great and iconic designs.

You can always go for the FA-scale minis from AOG. I ordered a bunch myself yesterday and am looking forward to painting them, even if they are teeny tiny :)

That price seems about right, the box sets sold for about £55 over here.

IWM and AOG are your best bets outside of E-Bay for new fleets, but both only sell what they have in stock and can't cast any more so you might be best to order everything you want at once or risk being unable to complete a fleet. Some retailers might still have stock, Noble Knight in the US had some last time I looked. Must be some others too. Get Googling :)

I'm up in Bellingham, but I come down to the Portland area most weekends for racing. The race season is almost over, so I'd be up for some games over the winter. Let me know. I usually play with myself.
