A survey: Vote for change to the MG facing/ready rule.

Many of us has made a house rule or as I like to call it (Man Law), in regard to MPs ruling of the MG facing when you take a Ready action to set up a man portable Mg. (ie. SAW, PARA, ect.).

Presently when you take a ready action to set up your light man portable Mg. you can not change the facing when you take that ready action. That means you must effectively use two actions to set up a mg. A Move action to give it the facing you want, then a Ready action to set up the gun. Now that doesn't seem that bad at first, BUT, say you want to change the facing, but not move, you would still have to take a move action, then a ready action to do it! Seem rather restrictive since normally all foot models see 360%.

Okay I know that was a little longwinded. Let's put this to a vote.

A. You may change the mg facing when you make the ready action.

B. You may not change facing unless you first take a move action then set up with a ready action.

I want your opinion. I believe it is time for MAN LAW!

I'm going to have to vote for A. I would also like to hear from people have tried playing it both ways to really see how it effects the game. With the speed that the game plays at I think that the MG needs as few action as possible to get the best results from his weapon.

Where do we come up with this stuff?!?!?!?

I find myself shocked at the fact that most of the people on these forums read English, if I may be so bold, a mostly Standardized English!

Yet somehow these elaborate interpretations of basic rules keep coming to the fore.

OK I know I'm probably jumping the gun; the REAL rulebook is not even in our grubby paws yet But G^%&%^&&^%Dammmit guys!!!

But I don't see where another Ready Action does not allow you to change facing....Actually I don't see where this became an issue...

More to the point I think that a Ready Action is all you need. Where do you see that changing facing is a Move Action? It just says "bonus Dice are lost as soon as the model moves", implying that a Move Action is being taken not another Ready Action, you know, a Move Action like going somewhere? Did you ask the Rulesmasters? What did they say?

Maybe it's my Chicano accent, maybe it's because I went to Public School, Maybe I'm just simple-minded but It looks like you guys are LOOOKING TO FinD fault somehow by Reading Too Much Into a Phrase.

Sometimes Guys....Chingado, dude.

I vote A.

Cap Nemo, it was listed officially as B in an older thread. Follow this link and select the link in LBH's first reply to see the official stand on this rule. Now, knowing we didn't just pull this out of our collective unsunned orifaces, what is your vote?

As the originator of the post that has caused this arguement I say option A.

As for why I put up the post, its because a couple of others in my gaming group for some reason I can't understand think option B, and where people dissagree it causes arguements. I have gone along with their interprutation as I have been out voted 2 : 1. I then questioned this on these here forums, and whilst the general consensus has been A, it has been pointed out by LBH that Msprange has already commented on this and ruled that its option B, now people are argueing about it, and Old Soldier has decided to setup a poll about it (although he hasn't used the poll option).

This is because old soldiers like T.O.S. and I prefer a face-to-face accounting of votes, with non-automaton feedback. Not some mamby-pamby secret ballot followed by long-winded filibustering.

Why wasn't this actually done as a poll? :?

Apparently because those polls are mamby pamby or something.... Personally I don't find voting in a secret ballot a threat to my manhood....

Hmm, not a threat to MY manhood either.

T.O.S. titled this thread "A survey: Vote for change to the MG facing/ready rule." I do not see the word "Poll" in there anywhere. Yes, he could have made it one, and perhaps he even would like to have done so and didn't know it was an option. Not all of us know how to use all the fancy features of internet forums. (Especially those who are of the generation T.O.S. and I are). :)

Cordas, if I offended you by replying on his behalf then I apologize. I was just trying to make light of it in case he didn't know it could be done. Don't want to offend us old fogey types, as we fought for freedom already and earned our rocking chairs. 8)

The worst part of this whole thing is the fact it is your question which started this topic, and it somehow jumped to a whole new thread. :?

Which leaves me with one question:

Why didn't you set it as a poll?

Just kidding. I realize it was a question you brought up, but enough of us feel as you do that it appears TOS decided to get a sample of how other's felt with an A or B answer, cutting to the meat of it rather than getting opinions couched in CYA explanations from folks who have not yet read the advanced rules, hehe.

But this is just a guess. I sure wish I could be as direct as TOS is. However, I tend to be more like you and ask thought-provoking questions with clever phrasing, which require more than a yes/no - A/B answer. *shrug*

Now where is my copy of the advanced rules? Oh yes, it either hasn't been printed or it is sitting in a warehouse until May or June! Guess I'll just sit here in my rocker till then.

I vote A, obviously.

Call me Braindead but that's the way I had read the rules work and the way I have been demonstrating it.....

Why does this shit seem to be so Frakking Hard?

And where's my WHISKEY Flask!!!!

ROFLOL 8) (thats rolls on floor laughing out loud for those who don't understand new fangled stuff  )

I don't mind at all having the mick taken out of me, and I freely do it to myself and others.

I must admit to being a bit peeved :x (or maybe constipated) about someone else stealing my topic and making a vote out of it, but really I don't care as long as the issue gets talked about, and we can change my mates opinions on the matter.
