A Handy Chart With Skill Difficulty Targets Matched With Skill Levels

I was inspired to create a chart for all skill difficulties with the target needed to succeed for skill levels ranging from Unskilled through skill level 6. It includes Jack of all Trades 1-3 as well. It really belongs on the ref’s screen. Enjoy!

Edit: It might make more sense to have the higher success numbers rather than FAIL to allow for positive DMs. And the lower success numbers rather than AUTO to allow for negative DMs. I’ll make changes and post that in a bit to give a ref options, too.

I find it easier to just post the % chance of each target number, you can then simply move up or down by your DM to see your chance of success if any.

Target No. 2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+1112+

This should be at the top or bottom of every character sheet and ref screen.
 
I recently did a few tables for different Effect Results, like the table below.

On this table, for a Target 8+, Marginal Success + Average Success = 42%, which is the same as Sigtrygg's % chance.

Interesting, but I don't think I would find it as clear. Nothing wrong with it. Just not my cup of tea.

I just don't find percentages as helpful. If it works better for you, I'm glad but I'll stick to a table.
 
The table I posted are the underlying percentages for all rolls. Why you would need a more complicated table is difficult for me to understand.

Over the years I have found most people don't understand the probability of 2d6 rolls or different target numbers for those 2d6 rolls or the effects of DMs...

a simple table shows it all. No need to over complicate it.

I agree about there being no need to overcomplicate it, but we differ on which table is more complicated, which is fine.
